Puxi Campus G4-5|2024 English Reading Month
This November, our school dove into the boundless worlds of literature during our annual English Reading Month, themed "Reading is Timeless". Over three weeks, students brought stories to life, explored creativity, and celebrated the joy of reading through a series of engaging activities.
Reading to Inspire Young Minds
Throughout Reading Month, our students had the wonderful opportunity to become mentors and role models for the younger students. On two occasions, they visited the library during recess to read beloved stories to our 1st and 2nd graders. These heartwarming sessions not only fostered a love for reading among the younger students but also gave our readers the chance to share their enthusiasm for storytelling and connect across age groups. The library was filled with laughter, curiosity, and a shared love of books.

Book Cover Competition: Timeless Creativity
Our budding artists and designers had the chance to shine in our Book Cover Competition, which ran throughout Weeks 11 and 12. Students submitted imaginative covers reimagining their favourite books, and narrative stories and reflecting on the past, present, or future. The submissions were a testament to the incredible creativity in our community. From intricate illustrations of classic novels to futuristic interpretations of modern tales, every cover told a story of its own.

Dress-Up Days: Living the Stories
Each Friday, students brought literature to life by dressing up as characters from different time periods. The first week celebrated characters from the past, transforming our hallways into scenes from history and classic novels with explorers, queens, and famous wizards. In the second week, characters from the present took over, highlighting modern heroes and relatable protagonists from today’s books. Finally, the third week looked ahead to the future, with students showcasing imaginative and futuristic characters, blending creativity with thoughtful visions of what’s to come. These dress-up days not only brought excitement but also fostered a deeper connection to stories from every era.

Storytelling Competition
A highlight of the month was our Storytelling Competition held on November 28th. Participants captivated the audience with their expressive performances, weaving tales that left us enthralled. The competition highlighted the art of oral storytelling, a timeless tradition that continues to inspire each year.

Reading Month Scavenger Hunt
The final week also featured an exhilarating Reading Month Scavenger Hunt, where students worked in teams to solve riddles and uncover hidden literary treasures. This activity combined teamwork, problem-solving, and a deep dive into our library’s rich collection of books.

Reading Month reminded us all that literature transcends time, connecting us to the past, grounding us in the present, and inspiring dreams of the future. A huge thank you to all the students, teachers and families who participated and made this event a success. Together, we proved that reading truly is timeless.
Let’s continue to make reading a lifelong adventure!
