Grade 10 Assembly:Know More about Sailing

December 5, 2024

During the morning assembly on December 4, a tenth-grade student shared his experience in learning to sail in the Theater of Zhongxing Building. He first talked about his initial impression of sailing, including no physical confrontation, competitiveness, low error tolerance, etc.

Next, he briefly explained some basic facts on sailing to his classmates. First, a sailboat is divided into two sides: windward and leeward, whereas the sail is divided into upper and lower parts, and the rudder is responsible for helping the sailor control the direction. Secondly, the best opportunity to overtake opponents in a competition is by choosing a faster path, as some competitors would not carefully observe which route is the shortest distance. Like any sport, hard training is always essential.

Finally, the students watched an intriguing video about various types of sailing competitors, helping them gain a deeper insight and a more vivid understanding of sailing as a sport.
