History and Geography Department: New Teachers Organized Abundant Activities

December 16, 2024

This semester, the History and Geography department has two new Chinese teachers who have used many classroom activities to help students understand knowledge and increase interest.

During the semester, Ms. Chi Xu moved her 10th-grade Human Geography class to the campus to discuss food culture with her students and the impact of localization and globalization in the food industry.

The 11th-grade Geography course highlights the use of advanced GIS software, QGIS, to digitize the Earth and create a cyberpunk-style metaverse. Ms. Zhao instructed students to learn how to solve real-world problems using this powerful tool, such as dynamically visualizing the impact areas of typhoons, planning the school’s golf course with GPS and QGIS, and determining optimal locations through geospatial analysis. Students are guided in exploring human-environment interactions across spatial and temporal dimensions, from macro to micro scales, bringing the Earth and humanity into their grasp.
