G9| Assembly: the High School Dance Society

May 22, 2024

On May 21st, the ninth graders in SHSID went to their assembly for the upcoming dance club showcase. Isabella from class 9-1 and Andrea from class 9-10 gave the freshmen a lecture introducing the high school dance clubs and their upcoming performance.

The once-a-year dance showcase consists of a diversity of dances, including classical dance, contemporary dance, and hip-hop. Not only did the two students promote the showcase, they also introduced the two main dance clubs—SPDC and Pop5.

For starters, Isabella introduced the ninth graders to the SHSID Popular Dance Club, which is an after-school club led by teachers in which members have the opportunity to perform in large showcases both in and outside of school. She also showed the ninth graders a dance practice video of SPDC from last semester.

Right after that introduction to SPDC, the student leader of Pop5—Andrea introduced this dance club specifically open to the ninth graders, which mainly organizes Kpop random dances and other showcase events.

Lastly, both of the students promoted the upcoming dance showcase on May 31st for the ninth graders to participate in and look forward to.

Hopefully, the Grade 9 students will be able to acknowledge deeper into our dance society at SHSID, and furthermore, look forward to and actively participate in future performances and activities.
