Primary School Math Department: Exciting Mathematics Competitions
Before we knew it,, we've already passed the halfway mark of the semester. During this half semester, to reinforce the new knowledge learned by students and help them develop good study habits, the fifth-grade math group at SHSID organized two subject competitions. First came the calculation competition, which mainly included operations with fractions, mixed operations with fractions and decimals, and clever calculation with fractions. Upon hearing about the upcoming competition, students geared up with full determination and actively reviewed and prepared. Finally, the calculation competition took place during the math class on the morning of April 3rd. Students focused intently on their papers, giving their best efforts to each question. After completing the questions, students meticulously checked their answers, utilizing every minute of the competition time to strive for a good result. After the competition, the school awarded certificates to students who performed well.
Following this, in early May, was the notes competition: students showcased their most satisfactory class notes since the beginning of the semester in class. Teachers evaluated the completeness, neatness, and note-taking skills, selecting outstanding notes. A voting activity was then launched on the Linked Classroom online learning platform, where students across the entire grade voted for what they considered the best notes. The winning students not only received praise from their peers but also became role models, guiding everyone in their note-taking approaches and references. These types of subject competitions not only help students consolidate their learning and assess their achievements but also serve to encourage independent learning and boost motivation. The tension during the competition and the sense of honor upon receiving awards ignited determination among the students!
