Puxi Campus G4-5 Charity Fair
On the afternoon of May 9th, amid the beautiful spring season, the Charity Fair for Grades 4 and 5 at Shanghai High School International Division returned to campus! This fair attracted the participation of many teachers, students, and parents. The goal of this activity was not only to raise funds but also provide a platform for students to exercise teamwork, enhance their sense of responsibility, and express their creativity.
Earlier in the week, Grades 4 and 5 held a charity lecture on rural education. We were honored to invite Mr. Wesley, founder of Project Volunteer Online 2.0, and Claire's mother, who is from Class 5-6, to share their online teaching experiences. Through the lecture, the students learned that children in rural areas maintain their passion for learning and thirst for knowledge in difficult conditions, while volunteer teachers work hard to bring hope and warmth to the children with their love and knowledge in their spare time. Just one class period of learning touched the students deeply and aroused their sense of compassion and responsibility, inspiring their enthusiasm and positivity for the Charity Fair.
The Charity Fair site on Thursday afternoon was bustling with activity, with a variety of stalls showcasing a dazzling array of goods, including delicious food, fun games, exquisite handicrafts, and more. Students also meticulously prepared promotional posters to make the stalls even more eye-catching. Dozens of stalls gathered the essence of cuisines from all over the world, where you could savor French desserts, Japanese hand rolls, American hot dogs, and Sichuan pot stickers, presenting a feast for the palate and allowing students to indulge in a gastronomic delight! We could also see T-shirts and canvas bags hand-drawn by students, with cute animals revealing their boundless imagination.
Some students, together with their parents, made natural soap, incense, or 3D-printed one-of-a-kind vases and transplanted succulent pots, bringing creativity and technology to the charity bazaar. In another corner, traditional games such as tossing rings, and rolling balls were in full swing, allowing students to experience the traditional games as well as competing AI chess robotics.
Three violinists from Grade 4 of the string orchestra spontaneously brought their violins and cellos to the charity bazaar, and the enchanting music not only lingered in the limited space, but also brought warmth and goodwill to every attendee.
It is worth mentioning that the Grade 5 students also closely linked the charity bazaar with their current math unit. During the preparation process, the students used their mathematical knowledge to design charity projects, create budget tables, and calculate costs. After the auction, students further analyzed the sources of income and reflected on the reasonableness of pricing and the effectiveness of promotion methods. In this process, students truly achieved a close combination of learning and practice, improving their mathematical thinking and realizing the value and significance of mathematics.
In addition to enjoying the joy of the charity auction, the students also remembered their responsibilities and duties during the event. The ASB members of grades 4 and 5 assisted teachers in maintaining order during the exchange of tokens, making the scene orderly. They also picked up trash bags to help clean up the venue after the auction. They worked together and cooperated with each other, not only restoring the cleanliness of the cafeteria quickly, but also showing a high sense of responsibility and team spirit.
Thank you to the parents for their strong support, the students for their active participation, and the teachers for their coordination and planning, which brought joy back to the campus with the long-awaited charity auction. Cooperation between home and school, joint efforts for good causes, not only contribute to the development of social welfare, but also convey love and hope through actual actions!
