Grade 9 Assembly: Improper AI Use in Academics

May 16, 2025

On May 13, grade nine students gathered in the Zhongxing B1 Theatre to attend an assembly. Emina and Harry gave an introspective speech on DeepSeek AI and whether it can truly replace humans, especially in the field of literature and humanities. The discussion highlighted the integration of AI in education, particularly in journalism and media programs. Students worldwide face dilemmas about disclosing AI use in assignments, as transparency might affect grades. However, the speakers also emphasized the irreplaceable value of human skills like creativity and critical thinking, calling for an adaptive approach to education and skill development.

Lastly, the Chess Tournament was introduced as an activity next week to help students participate meaningfully in chess, fostering critical thinking, patience, and other creative skills. The student club SciAcademy advertised for a book donation activity that will begin this week at the end of the assembly.
