Grade 11 Assembly: How to Stay Happy in Daily Life

May 19, 2025

On Thursday, May 15, the eleventh graders gathered in the XMT Annex again to attend the weekly assembly.

After announcing some important instructions regarding the recent AP Examinations, Nicole from class 11(5) came up to the stage to share her experience on how to stay happy in her daily life. Nicole first highlighted the importance of staying happy in high school: Maintaining an optimistic mindset is always paramount for happiness. As for Nicole, her hobby, photography, provides her a window for relaxing. This hobby enables her to take notice of the details around her life, and she learns to appreciate the world around her more with every flash of light. Simultaneously, she maintains active socialization inside school, including participating in several clubs focused on sign language and music that inspire her passion; getting to know like-minded peers inside those clubs also brings happiness. Moreover, she emphasized the importance of maintaining a mindset of gratitude: it is gratitude toward friends, families, and the world around her that drove her to venture out of her comfort zone, gave her the courage to face failure, and maintained her hobbies and passions through a cycle of positive reinforcement.

As the assembly ended, the eleventh graders left the auditorium for their busy schedule of upcoming tests. Nicole's message today opens a new opportunity for them. Even during the busiest times of exam preparation and college applications, students can still afford and need to pursue their passions and interests.
