History and Geography Department: Grade 9 History Museum Exhibition Semester Project Showcase
On the morning of May 23, students of the 9th grade met in the B1 Lobby of Zhong Xing Building to present the results of their semester project. Following the practice of previous years, students had already worked in groups to prepare for the exhibition, including making academic journals based on research, exhibit design, map making, and preparing exhibit guides or display boards.
The exhibition mainly focused on ancient civilizations, covering various regions such as Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. Topics include Egyptian kingdoms and pharaohs, ancient Greek and Roman civilizations, the Mongol Empire, the development of the Song and the Ming Dynasty, the Period of Edo, Crusades, Vikings, Inca Empire, Black Death, Renaissance, Spanish Inquisition, the Scientific Revolution, and the Age of Exploration, etc., which were rich and varied, covering most of the contents covered in the grade 9 history curriculum. Each group set up their booths in the first 10 minutes to ensure their exhibits could be “self-run”. Students then began to visit the booths according to their interests, observing the work of others, finding the connections between historical events, filling out reflection forms, and reflecting on their own shortcomings.
The museum exhibition of semester-long project tasks provided a platform for students to learn independently, work in teams, and share their progress. Students learned new knowledge during inquiry preparation, cultivated a tacit understanding of group cooperation, and communicated with each other in the showcase session. This also made the showcase a review and summary of grade 9 history learning.
