Puxi Campus G8 : Grade 8 Graduation Expedition ——Setting Sail for the Future
On April 28th, the eighth-grade students of SHSID welcomed the eagerly anticipated graduation field trip.
This graduation exploration plan was packed with a variety of engaging team training projects that blended sports and games seamlessly. These projects were not only competitive and fun, but also highly entertaining. The aim was to cultivate the students' cooperative abilities, enabling them to experience the joy of team activities firsthand and to reflect, comprehend, and unleash their individual potentials through teamwork.
Early in the morning, the students gathered in the school classrooms, eagerly anticipating the extraordinary graduation exploration activity. After a winding journey, they finally embarked on the road to Oriental Green Boat. This picturesque place, surrounded by lush greenery, is located at the Shanghai Youth Outdoor Activity Camp by Dianshan Lake. The camp not only has a variety of colorful outdoor activities, but also breathtaking natural scenery to marvel at.
After getting off the bus, the students quickly assembled at the Green Boat Theater and received information about the activity schedule. After taking a group photo, the students split into two locations: the Green Boat Theater and the Climbing tower. The thirteen classes were divided into two groups, each taking turns experiencing the 3 activities available: the climbing project , the "Step by Step" activity and balancing balls on drumheads.
The Climbing tower is divided into two sections: the lower level is the "Space Exploration Zone," and the upper level is the "High Altitude Challenge." Students, equipped and guided by instructors, progressed through various tasks by climbing and traversing each level. This activity required the students to maintain good physical balance, a steady mindset, and employ techniques such as tightening their core and focusing their attention to overcome challenges. Throughout the process, the students encountered mental fears and physical fatigue, but they encouraged each other with optimism, ultimately completing the climbing challenge with smiles on their faces. This game metaphorically encapsulated the process of encountering difficulties in our everyday lives, and the dexterity and determination it takes to overcome them. The students remained steadfast, showcasing the vigor of youth with their physical exertion and sweat.
Meanwhile, the other group of students engaged in lively team-building activities in the theater: balancing balls on drumheads and the "Step by Step" activity. In the former, groups of ten students worked together, with one person responsible for tossing the ball while others held onto the ends of the rope with hoops attached, collectively bouncing the ball on the drumhead. With caution and careful consideration of game strategy, they collaborated harmoniously to complete the challenge. The other team-building activity, "Step by Step," required students to build a water tower as high as possible within a set time frame by controlling the end of the rope. While the game seemed simple, it proved challenging, testing each participant's agility, quick thinking, and decisiveness. It also demanded a high level of coordination, enhancing class cohesion.
At 2:00 PM, the students boarded the school bus to begin their journey back. This graduation exploration practice allowed the students to appreciate the beauty of nature and recognize the importance of teamwork and friendship. They gained many precious memories from this trip, allowing them to take a break from their daily academic routines and enjoy meaningful moments with their peers during their middle school years. Under the teaching philosophy of "autonomy, experience, cooperation, and innovation" at Oriental Green Boat, the students learned the importance of independently overcoming difficulties and collaborating with others to solve problems.
