Breaking Boundaries, Creating Futures — The Final of the 2025 SHSID Educators for Future Award (High School & Music, PE and Art) Concluded Successfully
On May 24, 2025, the final of the 2025 SHSID Educators for Future Award (High School & Music, PE and Art) was successfully held at the Xianmiantang Annexe Auditorium. With the theme “Transcending Boundaries, Creating Wisdom: Reconstructing a New Educational Ecosystem”, 10 outstanding young teachers selected through preliminary rounds showcased innovative teaching practices for the digital age.
A Legacy of Excellence
As a traditional quadrennial event, the competition has now reached its 7th edition. Historical records show that among participants of the 5th and 6th editions, 5 have become academic directors or grade leaders, while 18 have developed into IB/AP teachers, truly realising the purpose of “promoting teaching through competition”. This year’s event retained classic components like talent shows, English speeches, and teaching demonstrations while introducing elements of AI applications and interdisciplinary design, exploring possibilities for future education.
Boundless Classrooms, Intelligent Futures
The final featured remarkable teaching demonstrations that collectively showcased three major teaching innovations:
1. Interdisciplinary Integration
Teachers broke traditional subject boundaries to create diversified teaching models. A Chinese class involving discussions on technology ethics; mathematics lessons incorporating economic application and ecological studies; a computer science class integrating music theory into programming; a PE training synthesising knowledge from physics, biology, and psychology; and music and art classes achieving a fusion of traditional techniques and modern technology. These cross-disciplinary attempts effectively dismantled subject barriers, forming innovative pedagogical approaches.
2. Deep Empowerment Through AI Technology
The competition showcased exemplary applications of AI and smart technologies. Cutting-edge tools like AlphaFold protein analysis, AI motion capture, GenAI programming, DAW, AI smart sports systems, and AI simulated dialogues were widely employed, achieving a complete teaching cycle from AI-assisted design to real-time feedback, fully demonstrating the powerful drive of intelligent technology in educational innovation.
3. Comprehensive Enhancement of Core Competencies
All teaching demos achieved multi-dimensional competency development goals, forming a “real-world context—technology application—competency advancement” teaching cycle. Students not only mastered professional tools to solve practical problems but also progressively built interdisciplinary knowledge frameworks, while deepening cognitive understanding and cultivating critical thinking and comprehensive application skills through innovative practices.
A panel of 10 academic leaders conducted professional evaluations across multiple dimensions, including instructional design, technology integration, and interdisciplinary approaches. Notably, the final introduced real-time QR code scoring by audience members, enabling all observing teachers to participate in evaluation through mobile devices, ensuring a diversified and transparent judging process.
Charting New Educational Visions
In his concluding remarks, Principal Ma highly commended the participants’ innovative spirit and professional competence, emphasising the school’s commitment to building platforms for teacher development and facilitating the implementation of innovative teaching practices.
Distinguished guests attending the school forum on "The Mission and Transformation of Elementary and Secondary School STEAM Education under the Perspective of Education Power" also observed the competition. The outstanding performances not only demonstrated our young teachers’ professional expertise and creative vitality but also, through establishing presentation platforms, fostering professional exchanges, and promoting experience-sharing, provided invaluable opportunities for pedagogical growth. As the competition theme proclaims: When education breaks conventional boundaries, it will undoubtedly shine with even more brilliant splendour.
