Bloom Where You Are Planted------ Record of 2025 SHSID Educators for Future Award (Middle and Primary School) Final Round
On the morning of May 23rd, the final round of the 2025 SHSID Educators for Future
Award (Middle and Primary School) was successfully held at the Auditorium of Zhentao Building. Eleven outstanding young teachers, selected through rigorous preliminary rounds, took to the stage to showcase the vibrant spirit of "future educators" – guiding students to explore knowledge, discover truths, and cultivate creativity.
Centering on the theme of "Change and Eternity," the finalists masterfully bridged past and present, leading students to appreciate humanity's enduring values of patriotism and ambition while skillfully designing pedagogical approaches to help them discern patterns and uncover mysteries amidst constant change.
In the Primary Chinese division, Ms. Jiang Shenshu and Ms. Cao Ting illuminated timeless wisdom through classical poetry and prose, respectively demonstrating the aspirational spirit of "ascending yet another level" and the profound sentiment of "hometown moonshine." The Primary Mathematics team – Ms. Wang Yun, Ms. He Yixin, and Ms. Wang Yuanxin – crafted ingenious scenarios to reveal mathematical patterns and their real-world applications.
"Who's dancing in front of our eyes?" – STEM teacher Ms. Duan Xiaoqian challenged students to reinvent traditional shadow puppetry, while Geography teacher Ms. Wang Lu decoded the social dynamics behind population mobility. In the Middle School Mathematics group, Ms. Zhou Yuqi created immersive learning scenarios and used animations to guide students through step-by-step inquiry and discovery. In the Science group, Mr. Xie Zhi introduced the concept of genetic variation through the engaging lens of “superheroes,” offering students a fun and accessible way to understand the biological basis of mutations. Middle school Chinese teachers Ms. Zuo Tianyu and Ms. Zhao Shuyi courageously reimagined classical Chinese literature, transporting digital-native students across centuries to connect with timeless ideals.
This competition stage vividly manifested SHSID young faculty's growth as "future educators," perfectly embodying the event's motto Bloom Where You Are Planted. Their performances not only reflected the unique character of SHSID's teaching team but also infused sustainable vitality into the school's development.
The competition concluded amidst resounding applause. The judging panel, comprising the leadership team, division heads, and subject experts from the Middle and Primary School, offered insightful feedback on each participant’s performance. Vice Principal Shen Tianyuan provided detailed comments for each teacher and remarked that while every lesson had its unique highlights, they all effectively embodied the educational progression from "knowledge – understanding – values. " Vice Principal Liu Fang praised the teachers’ outstanding performances by quoting lyrics: "You are the strongest, the brightest, unstoppable in your growth. " In the final summary, Principal Liu Lian commended the young educators for their solid teaching foundation, noting: "Our teachers have demonstrated strong professional competence, along with a commendable spirit of continuous learning and courageous innovation. This embodies the true power of educational excellence being passed on—bringing happiness to our students, vibrancy to our campus, and continuous progress to our education."
Distinguished guests attending the forum on “The Mission and Transformation of Math + Science (STEAM) Education in Primary and Secondary Schools under the Vision of Building a Leading Educational Nation” included members of the Mathematics Teaching Committee of the Ministry of Education’s National Basic Education Teaching Advisory Board, representatives from the 14th Collaborative Group of National Primary and Secondary Science Education Pilot Schools, and members of the East China “Six Provinces and One City” Science High School Alliance. They jointly observed the showcase event. Mathematics Teaching Committee Member Li Shanliang praised the SHSID teachers for being “well-versed in advanced international educational philosophies, methodologies, and strategies, while also skillfully integrating China’s curriculum reform goals and educational values,” calling them standouts among young educators. Mathematics Teaching Committee Member Zhang Junzhen also lauded the team as “dynamic and full of limitless potential.”
While the competition has concluded, the educational journey continues endlessly. SHSID's young educators remain committed to nurturing every student with professional dedication and heartfelt passion, making our campus blossoms with ever-greater brilliance.
