Puxi Campus G8: Semester Reflection of SL Groups
The G8 service learning program perfectly blends compassion with purpose, transforming every community service event into an experience that brings forth warmth and significance. On the afternoon of May. 22nd, eighth grade students gathered in the Hsi Building auditorium for the semester reflection from 24 service learning groups.
Over the course of this semester, G8 service learning activities has been held both online and offline, successfully turning every single act of kindness into brimming warmth. Service learning groups operating online focused on article writing, video and poster making and more to spread knowledge and love. For instance, SciAcademy and PRIMO’s science and math articles ignited greater interest within the topics discussed, Tales for Tomorrow’s broadcasts delivered knowledge to children in remote areas, and the promotional posters from Artistic Media and pictures from Photography Group painted vibrant colors within the tapestry of the school community. In these mediums, these group’s passion traveled across great distances, delivering warmth accompanied by kindness.
The offline service learning group’s enthusiasm and direct actions paralleled with the online groups, delivering the most direct forms of kindness. During the presentations, these groups shared pictures from offline activities: Story Buddy read picture books to children, sparking endless joy; MFP delivered warmth through their musical performances for the elders; Smile Charity donated scarfs meticulously knitted by members to remote areas. In these pictures, the children beamed with genuine delight and the elderly listened attentively- these most ordinary moments transcended generational barriers, piecing together the most touching moments.
Futhermore, many service learning groups participated in charity sales during this semester and donated their proceeds to partnering charities. On stage, various groups shared their experiences: SciAcademy provided hundreds of donated books to schools in Yunnan, KAtadog’s fundraising allowed more stray cats and dogs to find loving homes, and Goodball crossed vast distances into Daliangshan to teach children to play basketball. These charity events have planted the seeds of creativity and love, where hope flowers and flourishes.
After the conclusion of this semester’s service learning reflection presentations and after voting by eighth grade students and teachers, the following groups have been awarded the title of "Excellent Service-Learning Group":
Congratulations to these service learning groups above!
Service learning’s intentions far exceed articles, performances, and activities: it converts knowledge into actions, allows love and purpose to meet, and articulates growth through every testament.
