May 6, 2024

In the 2024 International Linguistics Olympiad China (IOLC) Academic and Exploration Camp held in April, two students from SHSID high school won the third prize Merit Award.

The two winners both are from SHSID Linguistics Club. Since its establishment in 2017, the Linguistics Club has been committed to building a platform for students who are passionate about linguistics to learn, communicate and research. Under the careful guidance of Ms. Yi Li and the active guidance of several student presidents, the club has grown, and its activities are rich and diverse. Although the members have different language backgrounds, they share a curiosity to explore the mysteries of language and a strong passion to spread the culture of a diverse world.

To better promote linguistic knowledge, the club often organizes various kinds of language and culture lectures. From exploring the mysterious Mayan language and appreciating the ancient Nahuatl language, to savoring the elegant French and experiencing the exquisite Japanese, the club invited experts and scholars to bring various wonderful language lecctures. Through these activities, students can not only enjoy the charm of different languages, but also broaden their international horizons.

In addition to lectures, the Linguistics Club actively explores and interviews multilingual talents on campus. The club encourages students who have mastered more than one foreign language to share their learning experiences, insights, and unique stories about their relationship with the language.

In the future, the Linguistics Club will continue to provide a stage for more students who love linguistics to show themselves and realize their dreams.
