Puxi Campus G6 Career Day | Diverse Perspectives Illuminate Future Dreams
On the afternoon of June 5th, the Hsi Building Lecture Hall transformed into a temple of vocational enlightenment. Six parent representatives from diverse fields took the stage, delivering an inspiring journey for sixth-grade students under the theme "Changing the World with Passion and Innovation." From financial trading floors to biomedical laboratories, from "magic molecules" to intelligent networks, the spirit of exploration and life wisdom demonstrated by these professions planted seeds of dreams in the children's hearts.
From Numbers to Paintbrushes: The Infinite Possibilities of a Multidimensional Life
Vani’s father, once a derivatives trader, now runs an art studio. He contrasted his fast-paced trading schedule with the daily challenges of entrepreneurship in the art world. From team-building to curriculum design and client communication, he described it as the best example of "lifelong learning." He emphasized: "Whether on the trading floor or in the studio, the core is problem-solving and continuous growth."
Architect of the World's Marketplace: Decoding Business Miracles with Data
Rachel’s father, a chief strategy officer in the commercial sector, revealed the secrets of the "world supermarket" with striking data: "One out of every four toys globally originates from Yiwu, and 70% of World Cup merchandise is produced here." He distilled the three core values behind four decades of commercial success—diligence, integrity, and inclusiveness—and shared case studies on digital transformation. Encouraging students, he said: "Markets have no borders, but values have roots. The future belongs to those who can ground themselves in tradition while embracing innovation."
Magic Molecules: Letting Science Dance with Daily Life
Cindy’s father, a chemical engineer, turned complex "surfactants" into life-changing "magicians,” describing them as "stain-removing heroes, foam architects, and emulsion masters." Using vivid metaphors, he described the role of molecular design in commercial production; later, he continued effective use of metaphor when, quoting a former Harvard president, he left students with a charge: "Ignite the fire of curiosity within you—it is the eternal engine of truth-seeking."
Brand Alchemist: Transforming Cultural Symbols into Everyday Inspiration
Matthew and Hannah’s father, a "cross-disciplinary magician" in cultural innovation, uses an environmental engineering perspective to explore creative possibilities. His work bridges culture and commerce, using design thinking and technology to revive traditional symbols. For instance, he transforms ancient Zhi Gu patterns into trendy collectibles and NBA logos into dynamic merchandise. Believing "imagination is the foundation of creativity," he gave students an actionable encouragement: "Every ordinary object may hide a creative code, waiting for you to redefine it."
Venture Capital and Biomedical Innovation: Guarding Hope through Creativity
Alex’s father compared venture capital to planting trees: "Sowing financial seeds to cultivate enterprises." Through the case of China’s first "Valve Clamp," he explained the difference between entrepreneurship and innovation: "Starting a milk tea shop requires patient calculation, while medical R&D demands a decade of perseverance." He concluded: "True innovation is not just technological breakthroughs, but a commitment to the value of life."
From AI Youth to Global Networks: Technology as the Pathway to the Future
Roy’s father, with 20 years in the field of AI, showcased the power of technology to reshape the world. Using League of Legends as an example, he revealed how AI-driven smart networks enable 60-millisecond global gameplay and then posed a thought-provoking question: "When AI accelerates networks, where will human wisdom go?" He provided not only an overview of a technical breakthrough but also a reflection on future modes of thinking.
A Warm Farewell: Passing the Torch of Wisdom and Courage
As each parent finished speaking, their children stepped forward with bouquets—eyes full of pride and respect. The embrace symbolized not just familial love but the intergenerational transfer of wisdom and courage. As the final speaker left the stage, the auditorium erupted in sustained applause. Mr, Shen, Vice Principal of the Primary and Middle School Division, then presented each parent with a certificate of gratitude, marking the conclusion of today’s cross-generational dialogue between careers and education.
Today, the children did more than observe engaging orators describing their differing professions—they received profound wisdom they can apply throughout their lives. The echoes of this Career Day may already be sowing the seeds of change in some child’s young heart.
