G10 | Adventure Trip
On the morning of April 28, the SHSID 10th-grade students started their three-day trip to Mogan Mountain. In this scenic resort far away from the city, they will have close contact with nature and gain valuable experience of wilderness adventure.
On the afternoon of their arrival at Mogan Mountain, many students met the challenge course. The aerial net formation required students to be high above the ground and traverse a series of suspended obstacle trestles. Although many of the students had been mentally preparing for a long time before going up to the platform, they finally mustered up the courage to meet the challenge. One by one, students ascended the platform, carefully holding the ropes in their hands before gradually moving their feet onto the rickety wooden planks. Finally, all students successfully and safely passed the test. Next, the students were faced with the zipline program, which also starts far from the ground and travels extremely fast. They walked confidently to the starting point of the zip line with open arms, immersing themselves in the green tree canopies and the air of thrill and fun.
Led by the coaches, the students also embarked on a hike to appreciate the history and culture as well as the natural scenery. In the lush bamboo sea of Mogan Mountain, the breeze, streaks of light and shadow passed through the branches, giving the earth a vibrant golden color. The students passed by the statue of Ganjiang and Moye as well as the Sword Pond, and learned about the legend of sword forging here. The couple on the statue stood side by side, their gazes were firm, and the solemn atmosphere was awe-inspiring. During this hiking trip, students were entranced by the beautiful scenery and learned about the magical stories of Mogan Mountain's past in the long history.
After a fulfilling day, the students returned to base camp to begin preparing for dinner. By preparing the ingredients and utilizing the cooking utensils in teams, students made a delicious dinner in the wild, which constituted a unique memory of the trip. As darkness fell, the students worked together to set up their tents, furthering their friendship and outdoor survival skills through cooperation.
In the lush mountain forest, two ropes hanging like thin threads in the fresh air, students are challenged by the Crystal Valley Slackline program. One by one, they stepped onto the ropes connecting the starting point and the finishing point, with their feet suspended above the ground and their heads covered by the green shade of the sky. The sunlight fell from the gaps in the leaves and shone dappledly on their concentrated faces, adding a bit of mystery and solemnity to this challenge. As the students moved forward steadily step by step, their silhouettes appeared in the shadow of the trees, as if they were one with nature. Every deep breath was accompanied by the fresh mountain breeze, and every meeting of eyes conveyed silent encouragement. They were careful but full of confidence. Although the distance between them was far, their hearts were closely connected.
Another memorable outdoor activity on this trip was rock climbing and countryside biking. Many students felt intimidated by the towering and rugged climbing wall, but with the encouragement and guidance of the coach, most of the students made an attempt at this challenging sport and gave a warm round of applause to the few who made it to the top. Next, the students mounted their bicycles and roamed freely through the countryside and fields around Mogan Mountain. The scenery offset the tiredness and fatigue of the past few days, and enhanced the relationship between the students in the sharing of the triumph and the trials.
After three days of close contact with nature, this extreme adventure trip came to a successful conclusion. During this short but intensive experience, students not only mastered the basic survival skills in the wild, learned to transcend themselves in the challenges but also realized the spirit of mutual help and progress in teamwork. With these precious experiences and memories, they will return to school and continue to explore the road of study and life. Undoubtedly, this will be a valuable lesson in their lives, which will inspire them to march forward with their unique youthful vigour in the days to come.
