Understanding Social Responsibility: Grade 11 Students Company Visits

On June 11th, Grade 11 students stepped beyond the campus walls. Based on their individual interests, they formed groups and conducted in-depth field visits to ten renowned enterprises and institutions across diverse sectors. This unique company visit aimed to let students experience cutting-edge industry developments firsthand within authentic business environments, deepening their industry understanding.


Intco Recycle Co., Ltd.: Students gained a thorough understanding of the plastic recycling and reuse process. They toured exhibitions showcasing home furnishings, outdoor products, and picture frames made from recycled plastic, and observed assembly line operations in the production workshop. An engaging lecture on plastic recycling science further solidified their understanding of environmental concepts.



Shanghai Qingneng Fuel Cell Technology Co., Ltd.: Experts vividly explained the principles and applications of hydrogen energy technology to the students, showcasing core products like fuel cells. During interactive sessions using hydrogen-themed educational toys, students experienced the marvels of clean energy firsthand in an enthusiastic atmosphere, sparking their passion for a greener future.



Donghua University Sustainable Fashion Design Exhibition: Students admired unique fashion pieces designed by Donghua University faculty and students using recyclable materials and listened to explanations of the design concepts. Bailian Group also shared modern mall operational strategies integrating fashion elements. On-site design demonstrations and DIY workshops using recycled materials helped embed the concept of sustainable fashion.



Lenovo Future Center: Students enjoyed a technological feast. The agile movements of intelligent robotic dogs and precise obstacle avoidance demonstrations by autonomous vehicles elicited gasps of amazement. Real-time translation features in AI-powered smart classrooms and intelligent grading systems in the Smart Education zone sparked lively discussions. Students posed frequent, professional questions, impressing engineers with the depth of their interaction. Exhibits like XR equipment and intelligent inspection robots ignited waves of enthusiasm and applause.



Bank of Communications FinTech Co., Ltd.: Students marveled at the modern office environment overlooking the bustling Lujiazui skyline, finding amenities like Starbucks machines and gyms novel. The representative introduced practical fintech applications, such as the "Escrow Notarization Platform" safeguarding family assets, "Beehive Adoption" financial services boosting income in plateau regions, and convenient elderly care/medical services, opening students' eyes to how fintech empowers society.



Shanghai Ivco Valve Shares Co.,ltd.: The corporate representative detailed the company's core business, development history, and experience solving industry challenges. Using practical examples, he emphasized the importance of linking theory with practice, helping students appreciate the complex processes and expertise behind seemingly ordinary valves. A subsequent tour of the production workshop, featuring large-scale equipment like flue gas desulfurization units, vividly demonstrated the precision and scale of manufacturing.



Zhihe Partners: Students learned about the firm's history and accolades within its modern office setting offering panoramic views of the North Bund. The representative delivered an engaging lecture on diverse legal career paths. A practical discussion on four legal case scenarios fostered critical thinking and active debate, resulting in a highly rewarding session.



Shanghai Surveying and Mapping Institute, Second Branch: At the exhibition hall, students learned about the history of surveying technology and map-making processes. Experts focused on the Branch's core work – the construction and maintenance of Shanghai's underground pipeline database, including update methods and database development for the five new satellite cities. A lively Q&A session provided professional answers to students' questions.



TÜV Rheinland: As a global leader in independent testing, inspection, certification, and technical services, the company's development history and service philosophy immediately captured students' interest. They toured various laboratories, discussing product testing procedures (like for EV charging plugs/sockets) with technicians. In the unmanned lab, they witnessed how AI, digital twin, and robotics technologies drive Industry 4.0. Technicians' career stories also proved highly beneficial.



Shanghai Tongkang Hospital: Students toured the Rehabilitation Center, Hemodialysis Center, and Physical Examination Center. They observed elderly patients' determined rehabilitation efforts, learned about hemodialysis principles and patient care from medical staff, and experienced the center's intelligent processes and professional services. This visit deeply moved students, heightening their awareness of the social responsibility to care for the elderly's health and deepening their appreciation for life's value and health management.



The company visit successfully concluded, opening numerous windows into the real world of industry for SHSID students. From green technology and advanced manufacturing to financial innovation, professional services, and life sciences, the immersive experiences not only broadened students' knowledge horizons but also fostered a deeper understanding of the power of technology for good, the value of professional expertise, and the importance of corporate social responsibility. This invaluable practical experience will undoubtedly provide crucial inspiration and direction for their future academic pursuits and career planning.
