Grade 11 Assembly: Lessons from the Other Side
At assembly on June 5, Michelle captivated students with insights from her experience as an interviewer for the prestigious X Launch Program at Xianmian Auditorium. Stepping into the shoes of admissions officers, she shared valuable advice on how to approach academic interviews with confidence.
Michelle emphasized the importance of knowing your own material inside-out. Whether discussing extracurricular activities, academic projects, or personal interests, she urged students to review their experiences thoroughly and reflect on key takeaways. Additionally, she mentioned how students should prepare meaningful stories. Instead of listing achievements, Michelle encouraged students to think of anecdotes that showcase growth, problem-solving, or teamwork. She said these stories are what let admissions officers understand you as a dynamic person, and not just a list of awards and and achievements. In her final message, Michelle highlighted the important of just staying calm and conversational. Interviews aren’t just about proving qualifications—they’re about connecting with the interviewers.
Michelle’s takeaways left students with practical strategies to tackle interviews with poise. A big thank you to her for sharing these lessons with our school community!
