Grade 9 Orientation Lecture: Forming Good Study Habits
On Wednesday, September 3, in the Auditorium of the Hsi Building, all G9 students gathered to listen to two valuable lectures about general study habits.
The first lecture, on time management, was delivered by Ms. Xu from the TA Office. We all know mastering the clock is a critical yet crucial skill. Ms. Xu shared dominant yet straightforward advice. Clarifying objectives, starting early, and persisting in good habits were among her suggestions. She also reminded the students that it’s fine to start slow at first, one just need to keep improving by small bits.
The second lecture about conceptual learning, was given by Mr. Wu from the TA Office—the speech started by defining the word “concept” as an abstract idea. Conceptual learning focuses on understanding the main ideas. Mr. Wu then further explained that using this method is vital in high school, as it assists students with developing a deeper understanding of knowledge that connects through different high school courses.
We hope these two lectures helped students further understand and improve study methods and wish students the best of luck in the new school year.
