Grade 10 Parents Meeting: Collaboration for a Bright Future Together

September 15, 2025

A gentle September breeze swept across the campus, brimming with the freshness and hope of the new academic year. To help students and parents better plan for high school learning and future college application, SHSID held the new semester parents meeting on September 11. The event was divided into two parts: the first was a centralized lecture, and the second involved parents going to various classrooms for detailed introductions to each subject’s curriculum. The meeting was hosted by Ms. Zhang Yueyue, the head teacher of Grade 10.

At the start of the lecture, Mr. Ma Feng, Principal of SHSID High School, shared a video from a robotics conference to illustrate how artificial intelligence is increasingly integrated into everyday life. He highlighted that younger generations are experiencing profound impacts and challenges as AI becomes more prevalent, referencing recent studies by researchers at Stanford and Harvard. Principal Ma emphasized that SHSID’s continuously evolving teaching and curriculum framework will serve as a platform for students to grow: learning perseverance through repeated attempts, cultivating optimism through practice, and shaping their best selves through thoughtful decision-making.

Subsequently, Principal Ma presented the school’s outstanding university admission results in recent years, along with remarkable achievements in international programs such as the IBDP, AP, and A-Level. These accomplishments are a testament to the unwavering dedication and guidance of SHSID teachers, as well as the tireless efforts of the students. He also called for continued close collaboration between families and the school, with a shared focus on students’ well-being and holistic development, to build a stronger and broader platform for their growth.

Next, Ms. Jiang Hao, Coordinator of IB & AP, provided a detailed introduction to our school’s curriculum system. She explained that the school offers a rich and diverse range of course options, ensuring that every student can find a suitable academic path by reasonably assessing their interests, hobbies, and strengths. She also emphasized that our teachers are highly experienced and dedicated. Studying here not only enables students to achieve outstanding academic results but also helps them develop strong learning habits and a solid academic foundation.

Following that, Ms. Cui Mengdi from the College Counseling Office elaborated on the comprehensive resources and support platforms provided by the school during the application process. She highlighted that the school has a professional and experienced college counseling team as well as abundant application resources, all of which serve as strong support for each student’s college application. Ms. Cui expressed the hope that, through close home-school cooperation, families can make full use of the school’s platforms and resources to collectively assist students in successfully gaining admission to their ideal universities.

Mr. James Lawman, the High School Sports Advisor, delivered an engaging presentation on the development of sports literacy. He pointed out that physical education is not only an integral part of students’ daily academic lives but also a crucial avenue for building resilience, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle. Mr. Lawman emphasized that good exercise habits can help students maintain a positive learning state and lay a solid foundation for their overall development.

After four speeches, parents proceeded to different classrooms for subject-specific introductions and Q&A sessions. Teachers from the IB, AP, A-Level, and School Course programs detailed the features and learning pathways of each curriculum, helping parents gain a better understanding of our school’s course offerings. This enables them to support their children in selecting suitable courses and making continuous academic progress.

Through this parent meeting, parents not only deepened their understanding of the school’s educational philosophy and curriculum system but also established closer communication with teachers. It is believed that with the strong support of home-school collaboration, Grade 10 students will face future challenges with greater confidence, achieve well-rounded development, and realize their ideals and goals.
