Promoting Students' Innovative and Practical Skills:SHSID Signs Agreements with Three SJTU Research Institutes
Recently, Shanghai High School International Division (SHSID) held a series of signing ceremonies with several leading academic institutions from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) to jointly promote the development of students' innovation and practical skills. This series of collaborations represents a major step for SHSID in expanding high-quality science and innovation educational resources and strengthening the link between higher education and foundational schooling, offering students broader opportunities for scientific research and hands-on experience.
On the afternoon of September 8, the signing ceremony between the School of Physics and Astronomy at SJTU and SHSID took place. Qian Dong, the Party Committee Secretary of the school, and Liu Shiyong, the Vice Dean, along with others, visited SHSID and signed a cooperation agreement with SHSID High School Principal Ma Feng. The two parties will work closely together on experimental teaching, research projects, and academic lectures in physics and astronomy to improve students' scientific literacy and innovative skills.
The following day (September 9), the Institute of Translational Medicine at SJTU signed a cooperation agreement with SHSID. Professor Wang Jinwu, the Institute's Chief Scientist, led a delegation to SHSID, where they shared this significant moment with Shanghai High School Principal Feng Zhigang and SHSID High School Principal Ma Feng. The Institute of Translational Medicine specializes in advanced fields like digital healthcare and biological 3D printing. Going forward, it will offer students interdisciplinary learning and practical opportunities, fostering integrated education in life sciences and engineering technology.
On September 11, the collaboration advanced further with the signing ceremony between the SJTU School of Medicine, Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital, Shanghai Institute of Precision Medicine, and SHSID. Professor Lei Ming, Dean of the Institute of Precision Medicine, along with renowned experts and scholars in fields like biochemistry, genetics, and cancer biology, attended the ceremony. Principal Feng Zhigang delivered a speech on behalf of SHS, emphasizing that this partnership establishes the foundation for students to access world-class research platforms and participate in real-world research projects.
Three high-level signings in three days, covering various fields including physical astronomy, translational medicine, and precision medicine, highlight SHSID’s commitment and organized efforts to expand science and innovation educational resources. This series of partnerships not only brings top university research resources into secondary school classrooms but also genuinely deepens the talent development model for innovation through project-based learning, lab practices, and scientist mentorship.
Shanghai High School International Division has always been dedicated to providing students with advanced educational resources and platforms. This extensive partnership with multiple schools of Shanghai Jiao Tong University again emphasizes SHSID’s pioneering and exemplary role in science and innovation education, further strengthening its position as a leader in international science and technology-focused education. In the future, the school will continue to expand collaborations with more top-tier universities and research institutions, building a richer ecosystem for science and innovation education and tirelessly working to cultivate future leaders with an innovative spirit and practical skills.
