2024 Spring InitialView Admissions Tour Successfully Held at SHSID

April 29, 2024

In the most beautiful season at Shanghai High School International Division, we welcomed the 2024 InitialView Spring Tour. On April 25, admissions officers from 22 top US universities and liberal arts colleges visited SHSID, engaging in discussions with students, parents, and teachers from various schools.

Before the fair began, the admissions officers arrived on campus. Ms. Zhang Li, the High School Vice Principal of SHSID, provided an introduction to the history and educational philosophy of SHSID. A senior who had been admitted successfully to Pomona College shared his experiences and future outlook. Representatives from the 11th grade, along with their homeroom teachers engaged in lively discussions with the admissions officers. Finally, Mr. Ma Feng, the High School Principal of SHSID, warmly welcomed the admissions officers who had traveled from afar and wished for a successful fair to follow.

After the exchange session, the admissions officers toured the lush campus, experiencing the eco-friendly environment of SHSID. They then proceeded to the indoor basketball court to prepare for the core event of the tour – the college fair, open to both students and parents, both from within and outside the school. Nearly one thousand registered students and parents streamed in, engaging in face-to-face discussions with admissions officers, inquiring about admission policies, academic programs, and campus life at their preferred universities. Students listened attentively to the explanations from the admissions officers while actively asking questions, holding promotional materials from various universities. Meanwhile, in the school's grand auditorium, specialized presentations about universities were conducted simultaneously, where admissions officers elaborated on admission requirements, school characteristics, and prominent majors.

During the fair, approachable admissions officers patiently answered every question from students and parents. Our 11th-grade student volunteers also played an active role in the event. Leveraging their fluent bilingual skills, they assisted in translation and communication, showcasing the enthusiasm and confidence of the hosts.

The InitialView Spring Tour concluded successfully at SHSID. It provided students with a platform for communication and display, and promoted international exchanges and cooperation for the school. The school is committed to providing students with high-quality and diverse on-campus and off-campus resources, facilitating their holistic development and individualized choices. In the future, the school will continue to build more extensive exchange bridges and platforms.
