Grade 11: Back-to-school Parents Meeting Held
September marks the beginning of a new semester, and students enter a new stage of growth twisted between the ties of anticipation and confusion. As high school students enter a new environment of 11th grade, the school has been providing students with diverse academic and extracurricular opportunities, career planning guidance, and cooperation fostered between parents and the school, fully supporting students to explore their future passions, clarify their development directions, and assist their overall growth. To help parents have a clearer understanding of the various activities held during 11th grade of high school, a parent teacher conference of the new semester was held on September 18, 2025. The meeting was divided into two parts: the first part is a lecture held by 3 teachers, and the second part is for parents to communicate with the homeroom teachers in their respective classes. This year’s parent teacher meeting was hosted by Dr. Wu Chen, the Head teacher of Grade 11.
The first speaker was Ma Feng, Principal of SHSID High School. He spoke about the era of artificial intelligence and emphasized the school’s guiding principle of “putting students first.” Principal Ma highlighted recent academic achievements, the strength of the faculty, and the school’s reputation, noting that students’ success stems from both home–school collaboration and their own dedication.
Principal Ma also emphasized that the school focuses on “time management,” “academic planning,” and “parental involvement” to support students’ holistic development. From a long-term perspective, the school takes graduates’ career development and contributions to society as key indicators, highlighting how SHSID’s education continues to empower students over time. Through regular home–school communication meetings, the school strengthens collaboration between families and teachers, providing comprehensive support for students.
Subsequently, High School Vice Principal Ms. Zhang Li outlined the school’s comprehensive support for 11th- and 12th-grade students, including the college counselor system, personal growth courses for 11th graders, the use of the CIALFO platform, and on-campus standardized test arrangements. She reminded parents to stay updated via the CC Newsletter and emphasized the importance of supporting students’ mental health, making full use of various resources around them, and fostering strong home–school collaboration to promote students’ ongoing growth.
Finally, Michael Haig, Vice Head of the High School English Department, gave an overview of the 11th-grade English curriculum. He noted that SHSID’s English courses offer diverse learning pathways, yet share common overarching goals. Beyond classroom teaching, the department provides support in academic preparation, personalized growth, and long-term goal planning, with the aim of fostering each student’s individual development. Mr. Haig emphasized that success relies on maintaining consistent learning, reflecting and revising work, facing challenges, and communicating actively with teachers. He also encouraged students to explore their potential and take responsibility during this transitional year, and thanked parents, highlighting that students’ achievements are closely supported by strong family involvement.
After the group lecture, parents moved to their assigned homerooms, where the homeroom teacher further introduced this year’s class expectations and new semester arrangements.
Through this parent teacher conference, parents have gained a sharper understanding of the academic arranrgements, support, and expectations for the next two years of high school. Both parents and students are ready to take action to achieve greater improvements through joint efforts with the school.
