Pudong Campus:  First Graders' Dreams Take Flight

September 22, 2025

Every Little Goal Deserves a Grand Opening

"Action!" With a crisp clap of the clapperboard, it wasn't the start of a movie, but the beginning of a brand-new journey of growth for the first graders at the Pudong Campus. During personal growth class on the afternoon of September 16th, a unique "My Goal Microfilm" activity unfolded in both first-grade classrooms. Teachers ingeniously used the ritual of a film shoot to help children document their goals for the new semester, transforming the abstract concept of growth into a visible, tangible, and exciting "storyline" filled with anticipation.

In this special "goal-setting session," the whiteboard was transformed into a giant "movie poster" bearing the slogan "Light Up the Stars, Set Sail for Dreams." Each child received a thoughtfully designed "star contract"— essentially a personal goal plan.

"I will read Chinese books using pinyin!" "I will use polite phrases like 'please' and 'thank you'!" "I can organize my backpack and cubby by myself!"... The children solemnly contemplated their "lead roles"— dual objectives for both academic and personal growth. Each goal featured three stars waiting to be lit. After one month, teachers plan to reward those who completed their 'contracts' with surprises. Educators encouraged children setting "dual storylines": academic targets alongside "personal growth goals" concerning habits, friendships, and interests, aiming to nurture well-rounded "little stars."

The most thrilling moment was the Filming Kickoff Ceremony. Each child stepped up to the podium where teachers presented them with a 'clapperboard' inscribed with their name and goals. With a "clack," the children closed the clapperboard themselves, as if truly hearing the sound of their dreams commencing.

Witnessing Growth in the "First Act" Over One Month

This sense of ceremony isn't fleeting. The activity's uniqueness lies in its ongoing "shooting cycle." One month later, the class will hold a "First Phase Wrap-Up Review Meeting." Children will bring out their "Star Contracts," compare their "performance progress," and share stories and small achievements from their month of effort.

The essence of education lies in igniting the spark within every child. With love and creativity, the first-grade teachers at Pudong Campus transformed the new semester's goals into movie tickets, acting as a gateway to their dreams. In this self-written, self-directed, and self-acted "growth micro-film," every child is the undisputed protagonist, and every small act of perseverance deserves the most moving closing credits and the warmest applause.
