Grade 12 Assembly: The Power of Perspectives
On September 19, the 12th graders in SHSID had their weekly assembly. During the assembly, Caitlyn from class 12-8 delivered a speech about the power of perspectives.
She exemplified this by suggesting that the school can be seen as a mini MBA program. While some students view homework and due dates as part of their hardships in school life, Caitlyn compared school group projects to business team projects, related discussions with teachers to business pitching, and connected pop quizzes with last-minute situations in corporate settings. By viewing school life as like pursuing an MBA degree, Caitlyn can make her school experience more meaningful. Ultimately, she delivered the message that when the world does not change, one can change the world for oneself by shifting to a different perspective.
The grade 12 students were inspired by Caitlyn’s simple yet effective approach to making school life more enjoyable for herself. As the assembly ended, the students returned to their classes with refreshed lenses for their school lives.
