High School Physics Department: Eco-Friendly AI Building Project

September 28, 2025

On the morning of September 26, the High School Physics Department organized a comprehensive practice class for ninth-grade students titled "Eco-Friendly AI Building Project". The course invited a professional teacher from Shanghai Materials Engineering School to systematically explain the properties and advantages of environmentally friendly recycled bamboo fiber materials. Bamboo fiber not only exhibits excellent mechanical strength, stability, and durability but also possesses remarkable moisture resistance, antibacterial properties, breathability, and thermal insulation. Moreover, as a renewable resource, bamboo has a short growth cycle and a low carbon footprint, effectively reducing the environmental impact of building materials and aligning with the development trend of green architecture. Bamboo has long held a unique place in Chinese culture—the classic saying, "Rather go without meat than live without bamboo," reflects both the elegant symbolism of bamboo in the Chinese spiritual world and its practical value in sustainable living.

The class was divided into theoretical learning and hands-on practice. Students first studied the basic principles of architectural structures and then, using bamboo fiber materials as the core, worked in groups to design and construct creative architectural models. From sketching and structural optimization to model assembly, the students collaborated throughout the process, transforming their design concepts into tangible creations. The classroom produced a variety of innovative outcomes: some meticulously replicated bridge structures, others recreated the unique form of the China Art Museum, and one group even designed a functional and playful "tank" model.

This course seamlessly integrates physics knowledge, green materials science, and traditional Chinese culture, helping students understand the concept of sustainable architecture while enhancing their innovative design skills and environmental awareness. Through the hands-on building process, the students not only experienced the close connection between academic knowledge and the real world but also gained a sense of joy and accomplishment in creation, laying a practical foundation for future exploration of green architecture and smart material applications.
