2025 House Program Commencement and First Mentor-Student Meet Held

October 9, 2025

On the morning of September 30, the launch of the High School House Mentor Program marked a vibrant start to the 2025 academic year at the Zhongxing Building of SHSID. This semester, a cohort of fifty-four Chinese and foreign mentors from diverse academic disciplines has developed specialized courses and developmental trajectories based on their professional expertise and individual interests for grade 9 and 10. The House Mentor Compendium comprehensively documents each mentor's educational philosophy and specialized competencies, enabling students to make well-informed selections when choosing their preferred mentor teams.

This year’s House Program offers a wide spectrum of themes—from subject-focused tracks in mathematics, English writing, psychology, geography, music, physics, and chemistry, to hands-on initiatives like the "Science Exploration Journey" and "Business Competition Blueprint," designed to support high school career planning. A range of skill-building activities, such as academic writing workshops and creative literature sessions, have also drawn keen interest from students.

During the meeting, mentors unveiled the unique focus and semester plans for each House, outlining key tasks for the first term. These include themed seminars, lectures, interactive activities, peer tutoring, corporate visits, and the "Freshman Project" tailored for ninth graders. Through thoughtful guidance and ongoing support, the program aims to broaden students’ horizons, inspire self-motivated growth, and help them gain not only knowledge and skills, but also joy in exploration and collaboration—making their high school experience both meaningful and memorable.
