Together as One: SHSID Foreign Teachers Team-Building Day
On October 11, 2025, all foreign teachers from the four campuses of Shanghai High School International Division gathered at the Xuhui Campus for a special team-building day. Coinciding with Sports Week, this rare in-person reunion bridged the distance between campuses, offering teachers a chance to connect, collaborate, and reaffirm a shared sense of identity and pride.
While SHSID’s foreign faculty have long upheld unified standards, joint planning, and regular PD sessions, this event allowed them to step away from the classroom, enjoy friendly competition, and strengthen trust and team spirit through movement, games, and laughter.
To ensure the event ran smoothly and meaningfully, the Foreign Teachers Affairs Office and the PE Department worked closely together in the weeks leading up to it, carefully planning every detail — from activity design and venue setup to safety measures and timing. Each grade-level team also created its own name and logo, showcasing creativity and team spirit. On the day of the event, everyone voted for the Best Team Name, adding a spark of excitement right from the start.
The day began with a welcome message and encouragement from Ms. Hu Bo, Assistant Principal of the High School and Coordinator of the Foreign Teachers Affairs Office. All foreign teachers then gathered in the indoor tennis court, where PE teachers led a series of fun and challenging team games, including Galaxy Jumpers (reaction challenge), Spin Doctor (focus and precision), Defying Gravity (coordination), Reaction Lights (speed test), Basketball Shooting (aim and perception), and Cone Flip (hand-eye coordination).
The atmosphere was filled with energy and laughter. As one teacher put it, “Some slipped, some bumped, and some didn’t perform perfectly — but we faced everything together. Win or lose, we stayed as one.” Another teacher added, “We arrived as colleagues, co-workers, and acquaintances, but left as teammates, allies, and even friends.” The event not only showcased the teachers’ spirit of perseverance and cooperation but also strengthened bonds and friendships across campuses.
In the end, prizes were awarded to the top three teams based on total points, as well as to the highest individual scorer in the one-on-one event. More than a competition, this was a celebration of teamwork, unity, and shared purpose — an experience that brought people closer and added new vitality to SHSID’s teaching collaboration and school culture.
Special thanks
A heartfelt thank-you to all PE teachers for their thoughtful organization and to the photographers from each campus for capturing every wonderful moment of the day.
