Grade 12 Assembly: In the Eye of ADHD
On the morning of October 10, 2025, the senior students gathered in the Xianmian Auditorium for their weekly assembly. This week’s session was led by Rachel, whose talk titled “In the Eye of ADHD” explores the causes, symptoms, and social perceptions surrounding Attention Deficit. Hyperactivity Disorder.
Rachel began by highlighting the importance of “understanding the problem” rather than reacting with frustration. She shared insights from her own research project, which utilizes four real-life narratives told from both bystanders’ and patients’ perspectives to promote empathy and effective communication. She highlighted how many misunderstandings arise not from ADHD itself, but from the lack of genuine dialogue. Through her design, Rachel aims to challenge assumptions and encourage respect for diverse experiences.
Ending with the words “Every perspective deserves to be respected and heard,” Rachel invited her peers to listen with empathy and bridge understanding through communication. As the students burst into applause, this assembly came to a thoughtful end.
