Middle School Science Department: Exploring the Path to Stronger Bones

October 20, 2025

On October 15th, seventh-grade students engaged in a scientific inquiry experiment titled "What Makes Bones Stronger?" The experiment, centered around the study of the human skeletal system, provided students with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of biological knowledge through hands-on practice, showcasing the vibrant energy of scientific exploration on campus.

Before the experiment, students made bold hypotheses based on what they had learned in class. They speculated on the effects of water, hydrogen peroxide, white vinegar, and other liquids of their choice (such as lemon juice or carbonated drinks) on the strength of chicken bones. They also tried to predict the changes in calcium levels. During the experiment, students followed operational protocols closely, immersing the chicken bones in different liquids, and observing and recording changes in bone hardness at various stages. Through collaboration and communication, they keenly observed the experimental phenomena and shared the joy of scientific exploration.

This experiment not only allowed students to visually understand the important role of calcium in maintaining strong bones, but also enhanced their practical skills and scientific literacy through teamwork. Many students expressed that, compared to simply reading textbooks, hands-on experiments made the knowledge more vivid and profound, and the learning process became more interesting and unforgettable.
