Puxi Campus G6-8: Middle School Sports Meeting
With the refreshing autumn breeze and the vibrant spirit of youth, the 2025 SHSID Middle School Sports Day grandly opened on October 14th. Under the theme "Faster, Higher, Stronger, Together," the event celebrates the Olympic spirit, inspiring students to surpass themselves through perseverance and to unite their strength through collaboration. The motto "Together We Try, Together We Grow, Together We Cheer" extends this spirit, encouraging students to grow through effort, progress through teamwork, and share the joy of youth through laughter, extending most heartfelt congratulations on the 160th anniversary of Shanghai High School.
Ms. Zhang Zehong, Secretary General of SHS, Mr. Ma Feng, Principal of SHSID High School, Ms. Liu Min, Vice Principal of SHSID High School, Ms. Liu Fang, Vice Principal of SHSID Middle and Primary School and Mr. Shen Tianyuan, Vice Principal of SHSID Middle and Primary School, attended the opening ceremony joined with section directors, middle school teachers and parent representatives to attend the opening ceremony and cheer on the students.
Opening Ceremony:Houses on Stage,Youth in Full Bloom
Amid thunderous applause and spirited chants, students from Grades 6 to 8 lined up neatly as the three Houses— Azure Dragon, White Tiger, and Vermilion Phoenix— took the field one after another. Following the opening remarks by Mr. Shen Tianyuan, representatives from each House introduced their teams and led their members in powerful cheers. The resounding slogans of the three Houses echoed across the field, igniting the passion of the entire crowd.
Azure Dragon House:"Faster"
The drums thundered, and the rhythm echoed like storm and lightning. To the stirring melody of "Fearless(霍元甲)," Azure Dragon House made a breathtaking entrance. The dragon soared and coiled with magnificent power, forming a dynamic symphony of strength and speed. With synchronized steps and seamless teamwork, dozens of colorful ribbons burst into motion, intertwining with the dragon's form to create a flowing canvas of youth in motion. As the chorus of "Strong and true, victory we pursue!" resounded through the air, the fusion of power and grace perfectly embodied the spirit of being "Faster" and "Together", and the belief in “United as Dragons, Unmatched in Excellence” lingered across the field long after the performance ended.
White Tiger House:"Stronger"
Next came White Tiger House, a symbol of courage and strength. Accompanied by stirring music, they presented a performance that transcended time and space to interpret the power of cooperation: from the primal unity of ancient tribes, to the Olympic "Truce of Zeus" in ancient Greece, and finally to the disciplined might and harmony of contemporary Shaolin martial arts. The passing of the torch and the rhythmic movements of martial forms embodied the enduring energy of teamwork and progress. As the resounding chant— "The tiger's roar shakes the sky, our strength knows no bounds!”— echoed across the field, it captured the indomitable and united spirit of White Tiger House, redefining what it means to be "Stronger" through the power of collaboration.
Vermilion Phoenix House:"Higher"
The grand finale belonged to Vermilion Phoenix House, whose fiery red presence ignited the field with passion. Their powerful chant— "Strong we rise! Wings in flight! Vermilion Phoenix, shining bright!"— rang with confidence and determination. Their performance, set to the inspiring melody of "Flying Higher," filled the air with soaring flags and uplifting voices, reflecting a fearless and aspirational spirit. It symbolized the belief in rising from challenges like a phoenix reborn— ever striving upward toward greater excellence and higher goals.
United in Celebration
Following the three House performances, the teacher-and-student show brought the spirit of "Togetherness" to a powerful climax. Amid resounding drums and swirling flags, a lion dance team— composed of four international teachers and four students— made a dazzling entrance. The thunder of drums filled the air as the lions leapt and twirled in perfect harmony, symbolizing the unity between teachers and students. With each vibrant movement, the lions "spit greens" to bring good fortune, scattering ribbons and blessings across the field. The audience erupted into waves of applause and cheers, immersed in a joyful sea of celebration. As the rhythm built to its peak, a golden scroll slowly unfurled, revealing the inscription: "160 Years of Shanghai High School— Bound by Affection, Enriched by Generations." The stirring combination of flag-waving, drum-beating, and lion dancing vividly showcased the splendor of Chinese tradition and conveyed heartfelt blessings for the 160th anniversary of Shanghai High School.
Oath and Opening
Amid an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation, the Grade 8 student representative took the solemn athletes' oath, pledging to embrace every challenge with fairness, unity, and determination. Following the oath, Ms. Zhang Zehong officially declared the 2025 SHSID Middle School Sports Meet open!
Joyful Carnival
In the afternoon, the Sports Carnival infused the day with even more fun and laughter. The event featured both team competitions and individual challenges, offering a vibrant mix of excitement and creativity. Students ran, cooperated, and laughed their way through games such as the Caterpillar Race, Rolling Wheels, and Penguin Walk, showcasing teamwork, coordination, and imagination.
This year's carnival also welcomed parent volunteers, whose enthusiastic participation alongside teachers and students brought a warm and lively touch to the event. Whether in the thrill of competition or the joy of shared laughter, everyone truly embodied the rhythm of "Try, Grow, and Cheer"— celebrating the pure happiness and unity that sports bring.
