High School Parents' School: Constructing a Harmonious Family Environment

In the evening of April 23, SHSID High School invited parents of grades 9-12 to attend a lecture titled "Constructing a Harmonious Family Environment to Facilitate the Growth of High School Students" at Xianmian Building. The seminar was conducted by renowned psychological counselor, Ms. Zhou Wenxiu. Its purpose was to address various situations and issues parents encounter when communicating with adolescents. Ms. Zhou, integrating common parental concerns in daily life with practical cases, elucidated many of the underlying causes behind adolescents' rebellious behaviors.

During the seminar, Ms. Zhou illustrated several cases from parents of high school students, encompassing academic, emotional, social, and lifestyle issues, and proposed several methods to address the problems. She emphasized the importance of communication and understanding, fostering parents' awareness that children's thinking and behavior require development and tolerance, assisting parents in establishing a more proactive interaction mode with their children. Concurrently, Ms. Zhou reiterated the need for parents to release their own anxiety, instilling sufficient confidence and encouragement in their children, assisting children in reflecting on past behaviors, cultivating positive emotions and an optimistic attitude within the family, thereby enhancing emotional connections among family members.

The one-hour lecture soon came to an end. Encouraged by Ms. Zhou, the parents opened up their hearts and discussed their confusion in children's education and communication. Ms. Zhou gave answers and suggestions one by one, and more importantly, encouragement. The parents all felt they had gained a lot.
