Witnessing Growth, Inspiring the Future: The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Ceremony Successfully Held

On October 23, 2025, Shanghai High School International Division (SHSID) High School successfully held the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Ceremony and Sharing Session in the annex auditorium of Xianmian Building. For the first time, the event adopted a hybrid online-offline format, with a simultaneous live broadcast via the Tencent Meeting platform, allowing parents to participate remotely and join in witnessing the students' growth and achievements.


The ceremony was presided over by Ms. Liu Qin, Assistant Principal and Director of the Student Center. High School Principal Mr. Ma Feng attended the event and presented certificates and badges to the four students who successfully achieved the Silver Award. Award Coordinator Ms. Xu then provided a detailed introduction to the core philosophy and the four key sections of the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award – Voluntary Service, Skills, Physical Recreation, and Adventurous Journey – emphasizing the award's significant role in cultivating adolescents' perseverance, sense of responsibility, and overall competencies.





During the sharing session, award-winning students representing the Gold and Silver levels spoke sequentially. The Gold Award winners shared the perseverance and wisdom demonstrated during their final outdoor expedition, while the Silver Award winners vividly recounted their personal experiences in effectively planning their award activities and collaborating to overcome challenges during team adventures. In the interactive Q&A session, both online and offline audiences actively participated, engaging in in-depth discussions on topics such as the award's difficulty and time management strategies.


The award-winning students unanimously agreed that the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is a valuable journey of growth, and they encouraged more peers to participate actively. They highlighted the unique opportunities it provides to gain enriching experiences beyond the traditional classroom setting through practical service, learning, physical activity, and exploration. The event concluded successfully in a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere.
