Pudong Campus: Parent-Teacher Meetings
On October 16 and October 21, the Pudong Campus of SHSID successfully convened parent-teacher meetings for grades 1-5, facilitating in-depth discussions on core educational philosophies and grade-specific priorities. The meetings comprised two main segments: First, Mr. Wu Xiaodong, Director of SHSID Pudong Campus, delivered an address in the auditorium, while arts, music, and physical education teachers shared insights into their disciplinary curricula and memorable highlights. Second, subject teachers from each grade introduced their course structures, instructional objectives, and signature activities. Parents then visited classrooms for interactive Q&A sessions with homeroom teachers. The vibrant atmosphere further strengthened the confidence and collaborative spirit of the home-school partnership.

First, Mr. Wu emphasized that student growth begins with developing a sense of "personal responsibility." He encouraged students to gradually take ownership of their actions, starting with managing their daily lives and progressing to planning their studies. Secondly, through academic courses and practical activities, students cultivate awareness of effective time and resource management, enabling efficient learning and balanced living. Finally, through class responsibilities, club activities, and service-learning initiatives, students develop a spirit of service and responsibility, laying the foundation for their future integration into society. He also called for home-school collaboration, urging parents to provide ample space for children's decision-making and practice at home. Through respect, companionship, and exemplary role modeling, families can jointly nurture children's autonomy and responsibility, working together to empower students' holistic development.
A highlight of this parent meeting was the sharing session by the Music, Physical Education, and Art departments, vividly showcasing our school's deep commitment and achievements in cultivating students' comprehensive competencies and well-rounded personalities. Music education nurtures through melody, focusing not only on instrumental skills but also on elevating students' aesthetic perception and artistic creativity, allowing melodies to become a source of nourishment for the soul. Physical education transcends mere fitness, strengthening students' bodies and willpower through team sports and competitive activities. This effectively cultivates teamwork, resilience, and a sense of rules. Art education bridges tradition and innovation. Courses extend from foundational techniques to free creation, guiding students to observe, understand and create beauty, unleashing boundless imagination. We firmly believe these vibrant and aesthetically rich courses will infuse children's campus life with vibrant colors.

In the second part, parents returned to the respective grade classrooms and grade coordinators first introduced the CME (Character and Morality Education) curriculum arrangements and requirements for independent learners. They updated parents on the school's curriculum system reforms, emphasizing its comprehensiveness and consistency. From Grade 1 to Grade 5, each level features distinct progression and focus areas, with progressively higher expectations for students. First grade focuses on the transition from preschool to elementary school, laying the foundation and habits for independent learners. Second grade becomes more goal-driven, incorporating increased teacher-student interaction methods while placing greater emphasis on details and setting higher standards for daily habits. Third grade emphasizes higher-order cognitive abilities and habits, providing deeper and more advanced guidance on students' thinking skills and self-directed learning. Fourth graders assume greater responsibilities within the school community, managing their time, academic growth, and social roles more independently. Fifth graders evolve into confident, determined independent learners with open minds and critical thinking skills, while cultivating self-motivation.

Subject teachers sequentially introduced curriculum planning, instructional objectives, teaching arrangements, and specific learning requirements to parents, which enabled parents not only to understand course content but also to grasp scientific educational methods, laying a solid foundation for home-school collaboration in nurturing students.
The parent meeting concluded successfully in a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere. It served not only as an information exchange but also as a resonance of educational philosophies and a bonding of emotions between home and school. We firmly believe that educational success stems from the home and school working in unison, sharing the same direction, and walking together. Let us continue to join hands, building on trust as our foundation and communication as our bridge. Together, we will transform today's blueprint into tomorrow's lasting footprints of growth, nurturing each unique child's spirit. We will accompany them as they flourish into independent, future-ready learners in the fertile soil of autonomy, responsibility, and creativity. We look forward to seeing our children shine brilliantly on the stage of SHSID Pudong Campus, empowered by the warm synergy of home-school collaboration!
