Pudong Campus G1: Small Puzzles, Big Wisdom

November 4, 2025

October marked the "Teamwork Month" for first graders. Throughout the month, the students experienced the sports meet. During the ninth week's personal growth class, we emphasized the theme of teamwork through reading a picture book and engaging in activities, deepening its meaning in the children's hearts.

The lesson began with the gentle opening of a picture book titled Stan the Starfish. In the story, Stan the starfish possessed a beautiful singing voice. Like a solo trumpet, he initially believed his talent alone could win all the applause, needing no friends to join him. But when a fierce crab appeared, waving its huge claws, the solo suddenly fell into a dangerous silence. At the critical moment, Jay— a little starfish Stan had always overlooked— dashed without hesitation in all directions, summoning every starfish companion. As they converged from every corner to form a solid "barrier of friendship," their united strength successfully drove away the crab and profoundly moved Stan's heart. The children listened with bated breath. Through Stan's transformation, they understood: no matter how brilliant an individual's talent, it is like a solo instrument. Only by merging into the symphony of the collective can the most beautiful melody be played.

The hands-on activity following the story brought the classroom atmosphere to a climax. Each child received a unique puzzle piece. They unleashed their boundless imagination, carefully decorating their pieces with paintbrushes, painting their personalities and dreams within this small space. Some drew a brilliant sun, others depicted adorable sea creatures— each piece vibrantly colored and brimming with childlike wonder. As the children added their pieces to the poster background, dozens of unique, creative puzzle pieces fit together seamlessly, ultimately forming a special poster. Gazing at this incredible collaborative creation, their little faces radiated accomplishment and delight. They pointed at the poster, excitedly searching for their own piece while admiring their friends' contributions. In that moment, they understood: it was precisely the uniqueness of each "I" that made the collective "we" so complete and beautiful.

This was more than just completing a poster; it was a resonance of hearts. We believe the seed called "team spirit" has taken root in their hearts. It will accompany them on their journey of growth, helping them paint even more splendid landscapes together.
