Grade 8 Puxi Campus: Autumn Adventure at Changxing Island

November 4, 2025

On October 30th, Grade 8 students from SHSID Puxi Campus set off on their long-awaited autumn excursion—the Changxing Island Countryside Circus Carnival and Harvest Day. Surrounded by crisp air and golden sunlight, they spent a day filled with laughter, teamwork, and joyful exploration.

1.The Circus: A Stage for Courage and Art

The day began with the Changxing Island Countryside Circus Carnival, where thrilling performances such as the Dream Wheel, Global Motorbike Stunt, Aerial Silk Dance, and more captured everyone’s attention. Each act showcased courage, artistry, and teamwork—inspiring the students to find strength and joy in collaboration.

2. An Autumn Lesson in the Fields

After the circus performance, teachers and students walked along the forest path toward the countryside park. The autumn air was crisp and refreshing, and sunlight streamed through the cedar trees, casting a warm glow on the cheerful procession. Upon arriving at the Rose Garden Lawn, students spread out their picnic mats, shared food and stories, and filled the open field with laughter and joy.

Soon after, the most anticipated part of the day — the sweet potato digging activity—officially began. Rolling up their sleeves and picking up small shovels, students eagerly dug into the soil in search of the “flavor of autumn.” Every time a bright orange-red sweet potato emerged from the ground, cheers echoed joyfully across the fields.

Back at school, the eighth graders held the long-awaited “Sweet Potato King” competition. Excited students brought their “harvest trophies” to the weighing station and used a spring scale to test whose sweet potato would claim the crown.

The result was surprising — the top three sweet potatoes were almost identical in weight, and the numbers on the scale kept flickering! Witnessed by teachers and classmates, it was finally decided that Classes 8, 10, and 11 would share the title of “Sweet Potato King.”

Among them, Class 11 was awarded “Ultra King Sweet Potato,” Class 10 received “Super King Sweet Potato,” and Class 8 earned the title of “Supreme King Sweet Potato.”

Amid applause and laughter, this delightful “battle in the soil” came to a perfect close, adding warmth, joy, and a deep sense of accomplishment to Grade 8’s autumn learning journey.

3.A Day of Growth and Gratitude

As the day came to a close, students returned with smiles that told stories of friendship and discovery. This trip was more than a day in nature — it was a journey of growth, gratitude, and connection. Under the golden sunset, the laughter on the bus echoed like the melody of autumn itself.
