High School Biology Department: A Glimpse of Vast Biomes in a Microcosm — Biome 3D-Model Exhibition Held

November 6, 2025

This semester, High school's Grade 9 Biology course has focused on core ecological concepts. As a key practical component of this part, students completed a "3D Biome Model Project" in groups. Recently, these projects have been collectively exhibited in the first-floor lobby of Zhongxing Building, adding a vibrant academic feature to the campus.

The model creation covered various typical terrestrial biomes, including tropical rainforests, temperate deciduous forests, grasslands, deserts, and tundras. Under the guidance of their teachers, each group began by conducting independent research to identify the specific biome's climatic characteristics, dominant species, and key interspecies relationships. During the construction phase, students utilized a variety of materials such as clay, foam board, plaster, sand, stones, twigs, and moss to accurately recreate the spatial structure and biodiversity characteristics of each biome within a limited space. Finally, each group presented their work to the class, explaining their model and findings. The resulting models demonstrate not only a precise grasp of scientific concepts but also outstanding creativity and attention to detail.

Since the exhibition opened, it has attracted numerous teachers and students, who have stopped to admire the displays. These thoughtfully crafted models have provided the school community with a more intuitive understanding of the complexity and fascination of ecology.
