Social Sciences Department: Seminars for Innovative Teaching

November 4, 2025

Since the start of the semester, the economics teachers in the Social Sciences Department have conducted a series of internal seminars. These weekly activities, each centered around a specific theme, aim to promote teaching innovation, strengthen academic support, and further enhance students' overall learning experience.

In terms of teaching methods, the teachers focused on the applicability and implementation strategies of the case analysis method across different courses. For example, they discussed how to select high-quality cases, guide students in analyzing scenarios from an economic perspective, and design questions that stimulate critical thinking. The topic of integrating AI technology into teaching also sparked lively discussions. Teachers exchanged ideas on practical applications, such as using AI for lesson plan inspiration, designing exercises, and supporting differentiated instruction. They also shared specific approaches to using AI as a learning partner for students—for instance, having students use AI for preliminary data organization or structured writing practice. The discussions also addressed how to maintain academic integrity and guide students in using AI appropriately, ensuring that the technology truly serves as a tool to enhance learning efficiency.

Regarding the guidance of student research projects, the teachers emphasized strategies covering the entire process—from topic selection and data collection to research design and writing structure support. Examples included how to transform students’ vague interests into actionable research questions, help students construct theoretical frameworks, and progressively guide them through writing and revision. Through this series of activities, the teachers collectively developed clearer and more systematic approaches to project guidance, providing stronger support for students’ independent research.

As the teaching seminars continue, the department is steadily enriching its teaching toolkit, striving to create a more effective, engaging, and real-world-relevant learning experience for students.
