Puxi Campus G6: Field Trip

November 27, 2025

The autumn light shimmered, and the morning breeze carried a hint of coolness. On the early morning of November 20th, all Grade 6 students from SHSID boarded the school bus with eager anticipation, embarking on their autumn journey to Shanghai Wildlife Park. This excursion was not only a journey to connect with nature but also a key catalyst for sparking creative expression. An animal photography contest launched as part of the trip, encouraging students to capture memorable moments throughout the outing. Photographs were to be judged based on photographic technique, creative concept, and artistic expression - aiming to replicate and portry touching encounters with animals through unique perspectives.

Upon arriving at Shanghai Wildlife Park, the first stop was the Sun Plaza for performances. As galloping horses charged past, students held their breath, afraid to miss a single thrilling moment. When clever dogs navigated obstacles, everyone cheered at their agility. As rare birds soared through the air, camera shutters clicked in unison—everyone wanted to preserve and capture this breathtaking scene.

By Swan Lake, the graceful silhouettes of black and white swans gliding through the water captured everyone's attention. Cameras were raised in unison, shutter clicks echoing as they captured these moving scenes. "They look like they're dancing on the water!" whispered one student, eyes sparkling with delight.

As they strolled through the park, the students' eyes constantly followed the animals' movements. Approaching the adorable, clumsy-looking alpacas, they moved gently, afraid to disturb the charming creatures. When the kangaroos bounded joyfully, bright smiles lit up the students' faces. The graceful stride of the giraffe became the most popular subject for photos. At the panda enclosure, every adorable movement of the giant pandas elicited waves of soft gasps. The students gazed at them with loving eyes, whispering their affection.

After a midday break, the students continued their exploration with renewed enthusiasm. Watching the tigers hunt, they felt both tense and excited, gripping their cameras tightly to capture the thrilling moments. The lively scene of bears scrambling for food drew hearty laughter, though everyone remembered to maintain a respectful distance. When they spotted red pandas playing on overhead wooden bridges and agile monkeys leaping through treetops, the students instinctively paused, looking up with eyes full of curiosity and affection, following every movement.

The most anticipated highlight—the predator zone—elevated the journey to its climax. As the safari vehicle slowly entered, the students felt both nervous and excited. Seeing gentle herbivores, they whispered their admiration; when majestic lions and tigers appeared, their gasps echoed with awe for nature's creations.

Notably, throughout the entire tour, civilized and courteous behavior was evident everywhere. Everyone spoke softly, observed in an orderly manner, and refrained from disturbing the animals' rest. They helped one another and shared the joy of discovery, demonstrating through their actions respect for nature and love for life.

Before we knew it, this journey brimming with beautiful memories drew to a close amidst laughter and joy. This autumn outing deeply impressed everyone that animals are not only vital components of the earth’s ecosystem but also natural companions that inspire human creativity and emotion. Though the journey has ended, our reflections on nature, life, and beauty have only just begun.
