Chinese International School Visits SHSID
On April 17, 2024, Ms. Li Bin, Deputy Head of Chinese International School (CIS), Ms. Sally Zhang, Director of Hangzhou Campus, CIS, along with key teachers from Chinese International School visited SHSID for a tour and exchange symposium. Mr. Ma Feng, the High School Principal of SHSID, and Ms. Jiang Hao, the school's coordinator of the IB and AP courses, also attended the symposium.
During the symposium, both schools had an in-depth discussion on the curriculum system, development philosophy, and teaching models of international education. Principal Ma Feng first introduced the educational philosophy that SHSID has followed since its establishment in 1993, which is to "draw on the essence of advanced education worldwide, the essence of various cultures, impart the achievements of contemporary science and technology, and cultivate talents for the 21st century". He emphasized that SHSID, with the educational philosophy of "nurturing individuals" in high school, is committed to promoting the individualization and lifelong development of each student and cultivating global citizens. By providing a highly selective, diverse, and personalized curriculum system, as well as courses and assessments that are integrated with the world's mainstream education, our school has fully demonstrated the competitive strength and unique charm of Chinese-style international education and won the favor of world-renowned universities for our graduates.
Ms. Li Bin shared the educational philosophy and achievements of Chinese International School. She mentioned that Chinese International School has been committed to integrating Chinese education into the global education trend, forming a distinctive education system with its bilingual (Chinese and English) curriculum as a highlight. The school's mission is to inspire students' enthusiasm for lifelong learning, encourage them to maintain a thirst for knowledge, and cultivate independent, critical, and creative thinking skills, so as to maximize students' potential and promote their all-round development. In addition, Chinese International School has established the CIS Hangzhou program, which arranges for Grade-10 CIS students to complete a one-year boarding study in Hangzhou. This innovative initiative aims to enhance students’ comprehensive skills, consolidate and improve their Chinese language proficiency, and help strengthen their understanding of the depth of Chinese culture. Ms. Li Bin expressed her expectation for future in-depth cooperation and exchanges between the two schools in the field of international education.
