Pudong Campus: Kids Talk: Discovering Our Superpowers

December 2, 2025

On the afternoon of November 25th, the Pudong Campus held a lively Kids’ Talk event themed “My Superpower in Our School.” Ten student speakers from Grades 1–5 took the stage with confidence and creativity, sharing how their imagined “superpowers” could make their classrooms kinder, more focused, and more joyful. Through their bold ideas and thoughtful reflections, the children demonstrated their growing sense of ownership and responsibility within the school community.

Grade 1: Where Kindness Meets Magic

In Grade 1, the children approached the theme with pure imagination. Ellie from Class 1-1 introduced a “Magic Wand” that lives in the classroom. It lights up when impolite words appear and rewards kindness with “rainbow praises.” Her magical tool encourages gentle reminders, positive change, and a colorful learning environment.

Seth from Class 1-2 tackled classroom challenges with playful magic. With spells like “Instant Playground,” “Ink Rescue,” and “Clean-Up Magic,” he showed how imagination can inspire problem-solving. His lighthearted approach reminded everyone of the joy and responsibility in keeping the classroom organized.

Grade 2: The Growing Power of Focus and Care

In Grade 2, the children showcased deeper understanding of emotional awareness. Lawrence from Class 2-1 presented the “Magic Eraser,” a power that not only cleans physical messes but also repairs emotions. He reflected on how thinking more, caring more, and changing a little can make the classroom a better place for everyone.

Aylene from Class 2-2 used vivid storytelling to recount distracted classroom moments. Her “Super Focus Hero” encouraged everyone to regain attention and use focus as a superpower that benefits both themselves and their classmates.

Grade 3: Responsibility Meets Creativity

In Grade 3, the students demonstrated thoughtful awareness of responsibility. Richard from Class 3-1 became a “Little Green Hero,” introducing eco-friendly actions like recycling, saving energy, and caring for plants. He reminded everyone that real superpowers come from daily habits.

Christopher from Class 3-2 connected his superpowers to Chinese mythology. His trio of abilities—seeing far, hearing well, and staying focused—highlighted how attention and quietness support everyone’s learning.

Grade 4: Spreading Warmth and Peace

In Grade 4, the children explored kindness and interpersonal understanding. Nina from Class 4-1 explained how “Magic Compliments” can brighten classrooms and empower classmates. She encouraged everyone to give at least one sincere compliment each day.

Joyce from Class 4-2 introduced her identity as a “Peacekeeper,” offering strategies to resolve conflicts with empathy and calmness. Her message emphasized safety, respect, and friendship in daily school life.

Grade 5: The Power of Ideas, Expression, and Discipline

In Grade 5, Isabelle from Class 5-1 analyzed how “traffic jams” happen when too many students speak at once. Her “RAP” model (Respect, Attentiveness, and Patience) offered practical strategies to improve communication and collaborative learning.

Daniel from Class 5-2 focused on the value of concentration when working on homework. He explained how staying attentive helps improve efficiency and learning outcomes, inspiring classmates to build strong study habits.

After the presentations, students participated in a school-wide Reflection session. Through their feedback forms, they rated the speakers and reflected on questions such as “Which superpower impressed you the most?” and “How would you use this power in your classroom?” Older students further analyzed classroom challenges and imagined what roles they could take on in a “mission team.” This reflection transformed Kids’ Talk from a speaking event into a meaningful learning experience where students internalized ideas and envisioned their own positive impact.

Through this Kids Talk event, we witnessed the children’s reflections, creativity, and empathy. Their “superpowers” showed us the importance of kindness, teamwork, focus, responsibility, and respect. Together, they brightened our campus with imagination and sincerity!
