December 4, 2025

On December 3, Shanghai High School International Division High School successfully held a themed lecture titled "Breaking Self-Limitations, Understanding the Source of Learning Motivation" in the Annex Auditorium of the Xianmian Building. The lecture invited Dr. Li Xiaoru, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor from the Department of Psychology at Fudan University, and a Registered Psychologist and Supervisor of the Chinese Psychological Society, as the keynote speaker, and was hosted by Mr. Ma Feng, SHSID High School Principal. The event attracted a large number of high school students and parents, fostering a lively atmosphere for exchange.

During the lecture, Dr. Li, drawing on her profound academic expertise and extensive clinical experience, systematically analyzed the psychological mechanisms underlying the formation of learning motivation in adolescents. She provided vivid interpretations of common student phenomena, such as procrastination and avoidance. She encouraged parents to understand and address their children's inner emotional challenges and urged students to develop a "growth mindset".

During the sharing session, students and parents actively raised questions and engaged in sincere, in-depth discussions with Dr. Li about various practical concerns. With her gentle yet firm professional responses, Dr. Li guided everyone in collective reflection. After the lecture, many parents expressed that Dr. Li's insights not only alleviated their anxieties but also offered actionable communication perspectives and support strategies. Students also gained a deeper understanding and inspiration regarding their own emotions and behaviors.

This lecture is one of the key initiatives of SHSID High School to promote students' holistic development and build a collaborative home-school education support system. Moving forward, our school will continue to focus on the intrinsic needs of student growth, integrate high-quality resources, and lay a foundation for students' lifelong development and well-being.
