Grades 11-12:2025 English Speech Competition
As winter's chill descends, the flames of creativity and innovation burn brighter than ever. On December 10, 2025, the Annex XM Auditorium was infused with intellectual vitality as students from Grades 11 and 12 took the stage for the annual English Speech Competition. Initiated by the English Department, this event provided a meaningful platform for young voices to share their perspectives on the scenario“What If…?”-an invitation to explore a single transformative idea.

This year’s speeches explored a wide spectrum of “what if” scenarios—from worlds where time could be reset and lives lived without error to universes where appearance no longer mattered or everyday objects seemed to come alive. As the competition began, students took the stage one by one, offering reflections on fear, regret, responsibility, and human values, skillfully blending imaginative storytelling with emotional depth. Whether considering a world where everything around us had life or imagining the possibility of turning back time, each speaker shared why their scenario felt meaningful and unique, sparking lively discussion and warm appreciation from the audience.

This year, the stage welcomed many fresh voices, each presenting topics that combined originality with thoughtful analysis. One speaker explored the idea of pausing the endless “what if” questions to concentrate on self-discovery and authentic interactions with others. Others offered unique perspectives on physics, art, and the underlying principles that shape our understanding of the world. Some reflected on past choices and societal expectations, highlighting the value of embracing the present and living true to oneself. The diversity of viewpoints and approaches made the presentations both captivating and thought-provoking.

Throughout the competition, students shared a wide range of perspectives, combining humor, insight, and reflection. One speaker playfully imagined a life entirely centered around SHSID—attending the university, working there, and growing old within its walls—to highlight that in life, the journey often matters more than the destination, and it is the ongoing process that shapes our growth. Each presentation thoughtfully examined both the potential benefits and consequences of the chosen scenario, persuading the audience of its relevance through real-world examples and conceptual reasoning. The participants’ passion and clarity offered the audience fresh perspectives and meaningful insights, making the event an inspiring celebration of voice, courage, and personal growth.

After several rounds of expressive speeches and careful evaluation by the judges, the hosts announced the winners, bringing a vibrant and thought-provoking event to its conclusion. The ceremony recognized outstanding performances and extended heartfelt appreciation for the dedication and creativity of all participants. Amid applause and warm congratulations, the exchange of unique ideas and perspectives showcased the courage, curiosity, and intellectual growth of every student, making this annual speech competition a memorable celebration of young voices and innovative thinking.
