Boundless Creativity, Campus Ablaze! The 2nd SHSID Media Festival Concludes Successfully!

December 15, 2025

On the afternoon of December 11, 2025, the Closing Ceremony of the Second Media Festival of Shanghai High School International Division was successfully held in the B1 Hall of the Zhongxing Building.

The event welcomed a team of experts from the Information and Communication Sector of UNESCO Headquarters as special guests. Principal Feng Zhigang of Shanghai High School warmly received Mr. Olivier Van Bockstael, Mr. Olivier Van Bockstael, Media and Information Literacy Project Officer at UNESCO Headquarters; Ms. Du Min from UNESCO’s Communication and Information Sector; and Ms. Zeng Qingyi from the UNESCO East Asia Regional Office. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as educational innovation, media literacy, and cultural exchange, and explored potential avenues for future cooperation. Following the meeting, the guests, accompanied by school leaders, toured the campus and the historic Longmen Building, offering high praise for the school’s educational philosophy, academic achievements, and campus culture.

Led by the student core team of the school’s Media Group, the festival had been in preparation since September 2025. Students played a central role throughout the entire process—from planning and logistics to material design and submissions coordination. The call for entries extended both within SHSID and to several schools across Shanghai, ultimately receiving over a hundred high-quality works. These submissions spanned sound design, AI-generated creativity, documentary photography, short-form narrative videos, and more, showcasing students’ cross-media imagination and independent thinking.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Principal Ma Feng of SHSID High School Division delivered the opening remarks. He commended students for their passion and talent, emphasized the importance of media literacy education for student development, and encouraged students to explore the world and express themselves through creative work.

The awards ceremony was filled with highlights. The festival presented the Outstanding Creator Award, Outstanding Organization Award, Excellence Awards in Four Creative Categories, and the Special Contribution Award. UNESCO guests, school leaders, and industry professionals jointly presented the awards, recognizing students’ remarkable achievements and their dedication behind the scenes.

The exchange of ideas was equally compelling. During the Cross-school Mini-Forum, four student representatives shared insights and reflections on cross-media creation, demonstrating the unique perspectives and depth of thinking of today’s youth.

Following the forum, Mr. Olivier Van Bockstael, MIL Project Officer from UNESCO Headquarters’ Communication and Information Sector, delivered a keynote from an international perspective. He praised the quality of student work and the significance of the festival, while offering valuable advice and earnest expectations for the future development of young creators.

The successful conclusion of this year’s Media Festival not only enriched SHSID’s campus life but also further advanced the school’s media literacy education. SHSID will continue to provide diverse platforms for student growth, encouraging them to innovate boldly, break boundaries, illuminate youth with creativity, and connect with the world through media.
