Pudong CampusG2: Mini Market: Diverse Clubs, Bright Growth Path

January 9, 2026

Grade 2 students at the Pudong SHSID campus recently brought their learning to life through an exciting Mini-Market project. Over several weeks, students explored important ideas about economics, persuasive writing, and advertising. They applied these concepts in a creative project as producers of goods and services, creating unique advertising posters—complete with company names, logos, and store slogans—to persuade their fellow Grade 2 peers to buy their wares.

Students also took turns with their company partners, trading off roles as producers and consumers during market time. This allowed each student time to both sell their products and shop for others, all within their allotted budget.

It was lovely to see other students and teachers on campus join the market, sharing in the fun of browsing and purchasing Grade 2 products. Amazing and unique items were on display, including homemade chocolates, fruity push cakes, beautiful jewelry, and a variety of hand-drawn artwork and clay creations. The variety was endless, and with so many choices, consumers found it both exciting and challenging to select their favorite items within budget. Afterward, students were thrilled to share their top finds with one another, smiling and chatting about the special items they discovered.

The welcoming and joyful atmosphere of this project and mini-event helped young learners not only show the skills they developed during these learning units, but also share their creativity, kindness, and passions with the wider school community. While students demonstrated strong understanding through their advertisements and thoughtful sales planning, the most impressive elements were the teamwork, creative problem-solving, careful planning, and enthusiastic exchange of ideas shared throughout the project. What an incredible way to kick off 2026 at SHSID’s Pudong Campus.
