Puxi Campus G2: Mini Market Brings Learning to Life

January 12, 2026

On Wednesday, the Grade 2 Mini Market successfully transformed classrooms into a lively marketplace filled with creativity, collaboration, and learning. Students visited each Grade 2 classroom to buy and sell products they had carefully handmade themselves - experiencing firsthand what it means to be both producers and consumers.

In preparation for the Mini Market, students learned key social studies concepts, including the roles of producers and consumers in addition to how goods are created, marketed, and sold. Each group designed a product, created a logo and slogan, and made eye-catching posters to advertise their items. To improve their products, students also conducted a consumer survey, collecting feedback from classmates and using it to refine their ideas.

As part of their English learning, students practiced persuasive writing and speaking skills. They prepared and presented sales pitches during Show and Tell, confidently explaining why customers should buy their products - using persuasive language to highlight key features.

On the day of the Mini Market, classrooms were filled with excitement as students proudly sold a wide variety of items, from delicious food items such as donuts, hot chocolate and cookies to delicate handcrafts like origami, bookmarks, soap, and jewelry. Students also showcased their creativity with uniquely designed products such as 3D-printed pencil cases, snow globes, and all sorts of unique finds. Students managed transactions, made choices as consumers, and practiced respectful communication throughout the event.

The Mini Market was a meaningful hands-on learning experience that brought together social studies, English, and real-world skills. Most importantly, it allowed students to take ownership of their learning while having fun and celebrating their hard work.
