SHSID Teachers Took a Tour of the School of Artificial Intelligence at Shanghai Jiao Tong University

January 29, 2026

On January 29, 2026, a group of SHSID high school teachers led by Principal Ma visited the School of Artificial Intelligence at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) for an in-depth academic exchange. Under the guidance and detailed explanations of Professor Yan Junchi, the group explored SJTU’s open-source autonomous driving platform and evaluation system—a cutting-edge initiative with real-world validation across over the cities and on campus.

Professor Yan introduced the team’s breakthrough: Think2Drive, the world’s first world-model-driven autonomous driving controller. Developed by his team, the system integrates perception, prediction, and decision-making into a unified framework. It has become the first model to solve all scenarios in the CARLA V2 benchmark and has been deployed in autonomous street-sweeping vehicles across SJTU’s campus and more than 30 cities, effectively bridging the critical “sim2real” gap in AI testing. The visit featured immersive demonstrations: a detailed miniature city model of SJTU’s campus, complete with labeled buildings, roads, intersections, and even a simulated traffic light system. A large screen displayed live simulation footage—showing real-time sensor fusion, trajectory planning, and behavior prediction—while professors explained how the system handles complex edge cases like pedestrian jaywalking or sudden vehicle cut-ins.

This collaboration underscores a growing synergy between K–12 education and university-level AI innovation. SHSID plans to integrate simplified versions of these simulations into its computer science and engineering design courses, empowering students to explore ethical AI development through hands-on projects—turning tomorrow’s learners into responsible innovators today.
