Lin'gang Campus: Lin'gang Student Winned four gold medals in the National Youth Canoeing U-Series League

March 1, 2026

February brought the new season of the National Youth Canoeing U-Series League to the picturesque waters of Jiangle, Fujian Province. Hosted by the Aquatic Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, the Chinese Canoeing Association, and the Fujian Provincial Sports Bureau, the competition drew young paddling talents from across the nation to the stunning Jinxi River for an exhilarating display of speed and skill.

Representing Shanghai High School International Division (SHSID) Lin'gang Campus, Katherine from Class 3-1 delivered a performance for the ages. Competing in the Women's Amateur U10 category, she dominated the water with remarkable consistency and raw talent, bringing home an astonishing four gold medals and one silver, while also claiming the U10 Individual Overall Points Champion title— a tremendous honor for her school.

The competition schedule was intense, pushing every athlete to their limits. In individual events, Katherine showcased her exceptional versatility. She stormed to victory in the Women's U10 200m Kayak Single with explosive power, setting the tone early. She then added another gold in the 500m Kayak Single, demonstrating flawless rhythm and endurance. But it was in the grueling 2000m long-distance race— the ultimate test of stamina and mental fortitude— that Katherine truly shone. Drawing on months of rigorous training, she paced herself brilliantly, maintained her lead from start to finish, and crossed the line victorious.

Beyond her solo success, Katherine proved equally formidable in team events. In the Women's U10 500m Ocean Kayak Double, she and her partner paddled in perfect sync, their kayak slicing through the water like an arrow to claim yet another gold. They followed up with a hard-fought silver in the 500m Kayak Double, leaving everything on the water.

With three golds in individual events, one gold and one silver in doubles, Katherine amassed an unassailable points total, securing the 2026 National Youth Canoeing U-Series League (Jiangle Station) Women's Amateur U10 Individual Overall Points Championship. The achievement stands as a testament to her technical mastery, relentless determination, and composure under pressure.

Behind the glory lies a story of passion and gratitude. After the competition, Katherine's father extended heartfelt thanks to the teachers and coaches at Lin'gang Campus for their unwavering support. He shared how the school's unique kayaking program first introduced Katherine to the sport and ignited her love for it. "It was the school's bold vision for curriculum diversity and the resources they provided that opened the door to this vast world of water sports for our daughter," he said emotionally. He recalled how, through weekly kayaking sessions, Katherine evolved from a tentative beginner to someone who found her rhythm and, ultimately, her passion. That passion, nurtured in a school setting, has now blossomed on the national stage.

Katherine's journey from classroom to championship podium is a vivid reflection of SHSID Lin'gang Campus's commitment to holistic education through sports. Leveraging its unique waterfront location, the campus offers a specialized kayaking program for younger students— not just teaching them a sport, but planting seeds of resilience, self-challenge, and a lifelong love for athletic pursuits. Every stroke Katherine took on the racecourse was a testament to the value of that vision.

As the sun sets over the Jinxi River, one thing is clear: SHSID's young paddlers are just getting started. With determination in their hearts and blades in hand, they are ready to chart new waters and bring more glory to their school in the years ahead.
