High School Physics Department: Exploring the Infinite Possibilities of Physics Through Reading
During the "Reading Month", the High School Physics Department planned and organized a series of discipline-based reading activities. From classrooms to the reading room, and from individual reading to group discussions, students delved into the lives of physicists. They explored the pulse of cutting-edge science between the pages, experiencing the vast and magnificent landscape of the physical world.

During this event, students in grades 9-12 engaged in self-directed reading based on themes recommended by their teachers. The topics covered a diverse range, including the biographies and career paths of physicists, as well as contemporary developments in frontier physics. In class, students took turns presenting their reading insights through formats like PowerPoint presentations, speeches, and interactive Q&A sessions. Some students focused on Einstein's scientific thought and humanistic spirit, while others researched and explained the latest advancements in quantum computing. Their sharing was broad in scope and rich in novel perspectives, sparking lively discussions and deep reflection among their peers. From the relentless pursuit of scientists to the exploration of the unknown, every presentation ignited a spark of thought in the classroom.

At noon on March 13th, teachers and students gathered in the Zhongxing Building reading room for a unique book sharing session. Mr. Li Yuchen from the physics department shared his reflections on the 《Biography of Xuesen Qian-Thread of the Silkworm》. With vivid language, he recounted Qian Xuesen's youthful academic journey, the twists and turns of his return to China, and his pioneering contributions to China's aerospace industry. The perseverance, choices, and sense of responsibility of this scientist were given a human touch in his talk, deeply moving both teachers and students present. Following him, Leo Tang from class 9(9) shared insights from the book 《The Mysterious Quantum Life》. Approaching from the perspective of quantum biology, he discussed how quantum effects might potentially influence bird migration, photosynthesis, and even human olfactory perception. By connecting abstract, profound physical concepts with natural life, he sparked students' interest in interdisciplinary thinking. The audience listened intently at times and asked questions eagerly at others, as ripples of thought quietly spread through the serene reading room.

This Reading Month event was not merely a transmission of knowledge, but also an intellectual journey. Through reading, students approached the diverse facets of the physical world; through sharing, they cultivated their expressive abilities and critical thinking; and through communication, they experienced the fusion of science and humanities. Each book opened a window for them to observe the world, and each presentation ignited their passion for exploring the unknown. When students begin to understand, through reading, the perseverance behind a formula, the struggle behind a discovery, and the context of the era behind a scientist, physics is no longer just a subject on an exam paper. It becomes a grand narrative concerning human destiny and personal ideals. Through reading, they see not only the past and present of physics, but also the boundless possibilities of the future, connecting themselves with the world.
