Pudong Campus G1-5: Spring Fire Drill
On the morning of March 19, SHSID Pudong Campus conducted a spring semester fire drill for all teachers and students from Grades 1 to 5. As a key component of the school’s safety education program, the drill aimed to strengthen safety awareness and enhance emergency response and coordination skills in the event of a fire. By simulating a realistic fire scenario, the school comprehensively evaluated the effectiveness of its emergency procedures, laying a solid foundation for a safe and orderly campus environment.
Homeroom teachers responded promptly and organized students to evacuate along designated routes. Students from Grades 1–3 exited through nearby first-floor exits, while those from Grades 4–5 evacuated in sequence via assigned stairways from the second floor. Throughout the drill, students strictly followed safety procedures—bending low, covering their mouths and noses, and moving swiftly. Teachers were stationed at key points to guide the flow and ensure a smooth evacuation. The process was tense yet orderly, demonstrating strong organization and execution.
Within just a few minutes, all teachers and students safely reached the designated assembly areas on the playground. Each class quickly completed roll calls and confirmed full attendance by raising indicator signs. This step reflected both efficient class management and a strong sense of collective responsibility among students. With all classes accounted for, the drill concluded successfully.
After the drill, teachers in charge of safety conducted a review and provided feedback. They affirmed the quick responses and disciplined actions of teachers and students, while also offering suggestions for improvement, such as optimizing evacuation routes, enhancing self-protection skills in more complex situations, and maintaining appropriate spacing during evacuation. Through reflection and review, participants gained a deeper understanding of fire safety.
Students also shared their reflections. Many expressed that participating in the drill helped them better understand essential fire escape procedures and the importance of staying calm in emergencies. One student shared, “This drill taught me what to do in danger and made me feel more confident in protecting myself.” Such feedback highlights the practical value of safety education.
Through this spring fire drill, Pudong Campus once again tested and refined its emergency management system. Moving forward, the school will continue to normalize safety education by organizing diversified drills and training programs, further enhancing the safety awareness and emergency response capabilities of all teachers and students, and working together to build a safer campus.
